Transmission question

So I did a google search, and can't come up with anything, maybe you guys can help.

I'm seriously thinking this issue started when my transmission wiring harness got wrapped around my front shaft and ripped apart, but who knows. :shrug:

I've recently developed a very troubling grinding problem in my transmission. And when I say recently, I mean in the last few hours. I drove from Hickory, Nc, to Jacksonville, Nc, just under 300 miles. Started the drive fine, got about half way through and stop for gas.

Pull up to the pump, hear a slight grinding. Can't figure out where it's coming from, so I fill up the tank, and keep driving.

Get back on the interstate, get up to speed, everything's going great. Go about 10 miles, hear a big pop. Freaked me out. No clue what it was. All of the sudden, the grinding is back and is loud. Like really loud. I mean, I can hear it through my music.

Get off the interstate, and the transmission is slipping. :redbrick:

So, I'm guessing my transmission is fūcked, right?

Anyone have any ideas that might help me out, besides getting a new trans?

When you heard the pop did your driveline lock up? Same thing happened to me when I picked up my 3rd Gen pick up after I return from my first deployment. It could be your transfer case also.

The drive line didn't lock up. I it literally sounded like an AK round. I almost wrecked from it.

It's definitely coming from the transmission. The transfer case has a slight whine, but always has, and there's no problem out if it. Engages just fine. The sound is definitely further forward in the trans. I'm leaning toward a clutch disk that shat the bed.
