Transmission servicing?

Im hoping that I can get some advice from those with the high mileage 4runners here, my truck has 184k kms which is about 120k miles.

I bought it from the original owner and hes done all of the recommended toyota servicing on the truck. I plan to keep up with it but have been debating about the transmission since ive had bad luck in the past(with a pontiac).

When I changed the transmission fluid at 130k kms the transmission started to slip. My dads '99 powerstroke f350 has over 500k kms with the transmission oil never changed and it drives like a champ!

Any input on this subject would be very appreciated thanks!

Well first off I wouldn't use your previous transmission troubles with a Pontiac as any indicator of what will happen on the Toyota. Was it a Grand Prix? I had one of those and the tranny went bad at 130K. My dad had one and his went bad at 120K. If you get online and read, it's a well known fact that those trannys were garbage. To compare it to the Aisin Warner transmission in the Toyota is a crime.

Change your transmission oil...it will be fine.

Drain and fill with the proper fluid seems to be the concensus around here. You won't get it all out and replaced with new, but if you do it yearly it won't ever get old and burnt either.
