Transmission Whine/Whirl While Still

Hello all,

This morning I noticed the slightest whining/whirling sound coming from the transmission on my 2000 3.45VZ-FE. It's an auto.

The sound is only present when I shift into D, 2, or Low. It goes away when I shift into R, N, or P. I haven't noticed any changes in shifting and the fluid is still nice and red (I did a drain and fill in July). The fluid level is correct. No chance of a milkshake since I already bypassed the radiator. There aren't any solenoid codes being thrown. It is only noticeable when I am parked and listening carefully; there are no noticeable noises as I drive.

I'm a self-diagnosed vehicle hypochondriac, so this killing me a little on the inside, especially since I have to drive ~200miles tomorrow morning. Any thoughts?

Probably the pump making a bit of noise. Not sure it's anytgibg to freak out about, does it do it hot too or only cold? Double check your fluid level hot (60C or higher) sorry don't know what that is in F

Thanks for the reply. It started this morning when the transmission was cold and the ambient air was cooler than usual (but it's Miami, so it's still warm by most standards). It doesn't seem to get better or worse as the transmission gets warmer, but I never saw the temperature exceed 130F since I have an external cooler.
