Transmission woes?

I have a 1995 4runner 3.0 V6 automatic
today I was taking off from a stop light
and the trans slipped a bit, I thought maybe it was just not in Drive good. at the next light nothing, no foward movement at all.
I checked the fluid level it was a bit low, but I added 2 quarts of fluid and it didnt make a difrence. I took it straight to a trans shop after hours. I have a friend that is a toyota mechanic and he said these things were bullit proof. any one have any issues like this?

:dammit:

This is just a blind stab, but I"m going to say that you might be in for a repacement Torque Converter. In my experience, it's the weak point in the otherwise great transmissions. I had mine chip on the front spine-things. And, after looking it over, I can see how the metal can fatigue on the front of it. I'm sorry to hear that, man.

transmission woes

well just got off the phone with trans place
nothing electronic, no pressure in the trans

bottom line $2200.00 smackers
for a complete rebuild
that really sucks
how much is a new transfrom toyota?
or a good used one?

Toyota will get the same rebuilt transmission that the shop will get.

Maybe a salvage yard(junk yard) and do it yourself.

$1800.00 to $2500.00 sounds about right for a shop.
