Transmission?

Ok Tranny problems on my 90 SR5 3.0L V6 Automatic. Here is the deal: My brother gave me this truck after it had been siting for about 1.5 years in his drive way. It has 286k and the transmission was rebuilt the first time around 175-200k. Then the transmission started acting up again about 1500miles after the second rebuild. My brother took it back into the shop and they told him it was a sensor on top of the transfer case. So he not having the money parked it. Never getting it fixed. Well a week ago I picked the truck up and he was telling me what it was doing. Which didnt sound like transfer case to me and when I drove it here is what happened. When it starts to get hot it acts as if it is slipping on take off. Shifts fine once it is going. After some city driving the transmisson A/T fluid over heat light comes on. Also when you put it in gear it takes a few seconds to engage. The other day I parked it and when I came back out there was fluid all over the ground leaking from the seals in the tranny. I know the tranny is done but could all of this been the transfer case or a bad rebuild the last time. Should I replace the tranny or just get this one rebuilt again? I also have found a tranny online but cant get anything but this so I am not sure if it will fit my 90? Will I need to get a transfer case as well? Sorry to be so long just wanted to get the whole story out there!!

Get yours rebuilt (somewhere else) or a used one. The thing about a used one is you don't know what shape it's in.

You shouldn't need a new t-case unless there's proof it caused the tranny problem, which is unlikely.

Yea I agree, go to a junkyard and find one . You might be able to get it rebuilt again, but in the end it might be worth it to get a used one.
