trash in oil pan

I had to put a new gasket on my oil pan today. When I removed the pan and cleaned it up there were 15-20 pieces of heavy duty plastic in it. I know it wasn't engine internals so i'm stumped. Anybody have a clue what this could be?

SOmething dropped down the oil filler tube? Old oil cap pieces?

No they were all flat about 1/16 of an inch thick or so.

What engine do you have?. If it's the 22RE, then it is probably bits of the cam-chain guides.

Yes its a 22re. Is that gonna lead to big problems or do you know?

You will want to replace the timing chain, and the guides very soon.
