Alright, post your numbers if you have them. Measured from the center of the hub to the bottom of the fender.

Setup: Extended Kings upfront, oem black LC shocks w/ 890's in the rear. For stop, energy suspension bumps up front, 5.25" durobumps in the rear.

Compressed | Normal | Droop | Travel

Front:
- Left: 17.75" | 21.00" | 24.25" | 6.50"

- Right 18.00" | 21.00" | 23.50" | 5.50"

Rear:
- Left: 17.25" | 23.25" | 30.25" | 13.00"

- Right: 18.00" | 23.25" | 30.75" | 12.75"

Not sure why the left has more travel than the right.

How are you going about measuring this? ~6in seems pretty low for the front but i guess I've never really checked
 
Are you removing the front strut to test for uptravel? Might be helpful to list what bumpstops you are using front and rear as well.

Yeah I thought 6" was low.
Center of the hub, to the bottom of the fender. Best I can do...haha. or if you mean physically, this is using a hill on some family property, slowly going up at an angle till a wheel is either fully stuffed or slightly off the ground.

Thinking about it, I could measure it in the garage with a jack too see true Max droop I guess.

Are you removing the front strut to test for uptravel? Might be helpful to list what bumpstops you are using front and rear as well.

Like taking the whole shock tower out? No, right now I'm just using a hill on our property to fully stuff the wheel. As far as I can tell it gets right up to the bump stop.

Oops, you're right I should list the bumps. Let me update that...

Front - energy suspension bumps,
Rear - 5.25" durobumps.
 
Here are my numbers from when I did the suspension.

Front, 4Runner specific 5100's, no springs on the shocks, 3/8" top plate spacer, stock bump stops:

Full extension: 25.25"
Full compression: 16.75"
Travel: 8.5"

Ride height:
21.25" front (3/8" top plate spacer, 5100's on 2nd perch, stock 2WD V6 springs)
22" rear (5th gen springs + 10mm trim packer)

I chose the top plate spacer to get the max droop with the stock upper arms. I'll increase it when/if I put new upper arms on. The 5100's still had a bit of compression travel left with the weight of the truck on the bump stops:

Jross, If you did those tests with the stock front swaybar in place... remove or disconnect it! You'll get a lot more usable travel with it off.

8.5" travel wow that's awesome. I do have my front sway bar removed. I'll have to do some tests on Jack stands to see if maybe I was not achieving maximum compression or droop in the front.

Well I did droop - compression to get the travel number. Like I was saying I'll try to get measurements with her up on jack stands to see if I was getting max droop.

I mean it really looks like it on the hill, but maybe it can go further.

I'm still pretty happy with the rear though :hat:

Those aren't real world numbers... the spring is removed. But I do run the softest spring up front I have (stock '99 2WD front springs, I also have 97 4WD springs and 5th gen springs to choose from). I suppose I should measure what I can achieve with this setup on a ramp or a hill sometime.

Interesting.

I recall one guy here on the forums getting 10" of wheel travel out of some tundra 5100s up front if I am not mis-remembering...

I don't remember which shocks, but you do have to cut the bump stops down to get extra up travel for that, I believe. Looking at the Bilstein specs, the Tundra 5100's do have ~0.5" more available travel, mostly on the compression end. I do expect I can get over 9" available with upper a arms with the current shocks. Whether I can use it in the real world? That remains to be seen.

I'm much more interested in the travel on the 2.5" coilovers on the market, Kings, etc. They seem to be more tight lipped than Bilstein on travel numbers.
