TRD CAI info needed

For those of you who purchased this:
1. Where did you get it?
2. How much did it cost you?
3. How much of a pain in the a$$ is it to clean and re-oil the TRD filter?
Im still waiting to hear from my dealer but I want to get some low ball prices.

eBay, 399 shipped, filter doesn't need cleaning for a long time, but it's as easy as hosing it down, letting it dry and re-oiling. I alway have a spare so I can throw it in while I'm cleaning the other.

Thanks, I looked for the $399.00 shipped but couldnt find it. I ordered it through TRDparts4u @ $416.87 shipped this morning as that was the lowest I could find.
 
I purchased mine through my dealer. Total cost, including installation, was $450. I haven't had to clean and re-oil the filter, yet.

No problem. I just found it on there, but no biggie. You didn't severely overpay. I would recommend installing it yourself to save some money on installation costs. It's not too difficult if you know how to use basic tools.

You'll love the sound this thing makes, so be sure to share some feedback.

Next up for me is the Borla Cat-Back Exhaust system. About to pick it up for 581 shipped.

FYI - If you look for TRD Intake 4runner in ebay, you'll see it listed for $385.00, $15.00 shipping.

Agree with above - I would consider installing it yourself. Wasn't difficult and only took a few hours.

I just installed the Borla, your going to love it, it sounds awesome. Very deep on start up, sounds great at idle, nice and loud on hard acceleration and very quiet at 70 mph. You won't be disappointed, especially for the price you got it at.

Because I was casually installing it and the directions suck - took about 2 hours. Separating and re-wrapping the wiring harness takes some time. It's probably the most irritating part of the install. I also wasted some time trying to get the intake tube positioned correctly because I had the rubber coupler backwards (an easy mistake with this kit).

As far as the intake itself is concerned - I like it. If you have $400 burning a hole in your pocket, its a nice upgrade. Sounds great at WOT and adds a subtle growl at mid-throttle. Throttle is a bit more responsive. Pretty much standard results as with other intakes I've installed, but it is definitely on the expensive side as far as these things are concerned.

It'll be great, right up until it falls apart and sucks cheap tin and plastic into your throttle body. At that point Gadget's supercharger from URD will look like a bargain.

Nice fan, I'm sure those blades create plenty of boost. I think I have a computer frame made with the same metal.

For those who aren't sure, the fan in the video is spinning because the engine is being rev'd... there is no "supercharging" going on because it is the vacuum being created by the intake that is turning the blades, therefor there is no increase in airflow (probably a decrease due to the drag created by the obstruction) going to the intake.

The point of a Supercharger is to cram more air into the cylinder than it would normally get. Small fans don't move enough air (can't compress enough air, either) to make the slightest difference in the amount of air reaching the cylinder. Real superchargers run off the engine, either by belt and pulley or a gear, etc., and the impeller (fan) spins at 90kRPM... not the 20K claimed by that electric toy.

Real superchargers are expensive because the materials, research, testing, and production have to be even better than the engine itself. Not a place to try and save money.

I went to autopartswarehouse and used a coupon code. Then I called AJUSA and they matched/beat the price by a few bucks. Shipping is free.
