TRD Intake available now!

I'd like to see a 4runner on the dyno before I would be swayed either way. A car designed for speed witb a turbo is not a good comparison to a slug

About a year ago, someone on the forum did dyno a 5th Gen T4R: Stock and then with TRD CAI. There was small but noted HP/Torque increase.

Kinda silenced the nay sayers who preached the CAI showed nothing more then the Butt Meter increases.

not a 4runner. Unless I see a 4runner dyno'd with the stock box, trd cai, and trd cai w/ a K&N air filter (my setup) its not comparable for me.

Of course I'm biased, I went the cai route and I'm not willing to rule out the possibility that the change in sound makes me work the gas differently. Coming from 15 years exclusively driving stick, it's a likely possibility.

Just say'n, show me the relevant #'s

It's out there. I wanna say it was 5hp and 19tq. Nothing crazy but a gain none the less

Sounds about right. Just enough to off set the larger 285/70/17's. But there is a difference in performance wither it be the actual hardware or the way it is driven none the less.

Ive had one in both of my FJ cruisers, and I find it is not really faster, but does seem to give better throttle response, and is more fun to drive. FWIW... I have thought about getting one for that reason alone.

Here is the link from the previous thread showing the dyno info.

I also posted the pictures and measurements when I installed mine. The airbox is much more open, with both holes being larger as well. I still run the stock air filter (and will continue to do so). The biggest change I notice is the noise. It wails in the upper RPMS. Runs well though and I've still had 21mpg tanks after installing it. Pretty cheap mod, I think it was around $230 for the parts.

Remove your HCH filter on the stock setup and you'll feel improved throttle response. Did this on my camry hybrid, rav4 and mr2 spyder back in the day.

However i started to notice a slight fuel smell. Debating on whether I want to rip it off the 4runner.
