TRD intake---tires next

Sup guys. Just installed TRD intake got from guy on craigslist. Paid $200 for the older model. I tried to talk him down more but was stoked on the deal. Feel and hear the difference big-time.

Next up tires. Torn between cooper ATR or ST or LTZ
or
Goodyear Duratracs or Silent Armor.
I know comparing 5 diff. tires is crazy but I'm pretty picky.

Any advice is appreciated. Wont off-road that much but want tires able to handle it, especially sand.

any special things you had to do to make it work? or did it just bolt right up?

ya guy had it on his tacoma but wrks on t4r and FJ too.

nothing too special. really just bolt on and fitting everything. The bolts which hold the box to the car were different on my car vs the instructions.

I was also considering an intake system. That is, until my mechanic told me the lubricant gums up the mass air flow(?) sensor...

yea its nice and only got it cuz was a deal. AFE is good one which is TRD brand i guess under a diff name. Mine the mass air flow censor doesn't have any lube on it. rubber grommet or seal goin onto the tube and plastic spacers holding it level.

doesnt the TRD come with an "oiled" wet filter, i think thats what he's referring to, & yes ur mech. is somewhat correct, a wet filter can sometimes foul the MAF, if or when it does just clean it, or get the AFE dry filter.

u know i was thinkin it was the filter he was speaking about, but the filter is def. not wet enough to cause any damage. but i could b wrong im not a mechanic.

The videos were with all windows close and I notice a huge difference at all RPM's. quicker off the line, quicker to 60mph, been stompin the petal lately.

ive had the wet filters foul my maf on at least 2 sepaerate vec.s. funny thing is they were the same brand, think id of learned the first time. yes, it may happen most of the time because of over oiling, but the times it happened to me, i never even had the chance to oil them myself, just installed them right out the box, & in a few months the problems started, to me it seems that if the sensor is far enough away from the filter it may take longer or not happen at all, (ive used them for years on alot of different rides ,most with no trouble) but it has happened to some. first the mpg goes down, then it starts getting a little rough, then it starts to stall when ur stopped at a red light or corner. but if using a wet filter, u should think about cleaning the sensor,tube, & TB every 3-5k to help avoid it. ive had no problems in the 4r since my switch to a dry filter. to me its just not worth the hassel when a dry filter will solve this.

I have the ATRs on mine and like them, but wanted something a bit more aggressive.

Ordered 33/11.50 Geolandar AT-Ss.

The STs are agressive, but I don't know how road worthy they'd be. Same for the ST-C which I really like.

wow man thanks for the heads up. never would have crossed my mind. yea the deal was my only reason going that route, i was happy w just my simple drop in KN filter.
what would b a good cleaning liquid. was thinking maybe q-tip w alcohol/water mix or something around those lines? I am also constantly worried now about my extended warranty, and any probs arise like you described, voided any help w repairs due to the after-market non street legal CAI. Thanks chaz
