I have a 2013 4Runner with TRD rims (PTR45-35010) and locking lug nuts (PTR27-89100, see pic). The two wrenches that came with the kit have been stripped out trying to remove two locking lug nuts stuck to each of the front tires.
Are there replacement TRD lock keys available that are sturdier and shorter in length to help remove them?
A local non-Toyota dealer's shop installed the TRD rims and were responsible for destroying the keys. I've attached a photo showing one of the two rear lug nuts that could be removed along with one of the stripped out lock keys. They suggest a sturdier, shorter lock key will provide a better chance of removing the stuck nuts and have found such a tool online. They haven't used any heat yet, just penetrating oils.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Time to get my summer rims. BTW, the locking nuts are going to be history.
