TRD Oil Filter

I was looking for Oil Filter replacement. After spending some time in internet I got an idea to replace it with TRD Oil Filter, but unfortunately I couldn't find correct part number. Does anyone done this mod and probably has some experience with it. I've tried to deal with my dealer, but I was told that they doesn't deal with TRD Oil Filters and do not have any part numbers. The only part numbers they have is for regular "Toyota Brand". Most interesting thing that they have two numbers and don

The part number ending with D1 is a shorter filter. Use the D3, its about 2 inches taller (estimate) than the D1.

IMHO the TRD filter is a waste of money. If you are set on spending that much, buy a couple of Napa Gold filters (5.99 each) or
Amsoil fitlers (8.00 each from me). The TRD filter is a rebadged Wix filter , who makes all the Napa gold series filters as well.

Also for the money Purolator plus is a great filter as well.

Oh,.... I didn't know that TRD is just some sort of crap filters made by some ... company. I thought that they've been made in Japan...

What do you think about K&N Oil Filters?

Do you know any GOOD Oil Filters which can handle 10000miles?

They are not CRAP filters, they are quality wix filters, but they should not cost more than a wix filter just because TRD is printed on it... get my drift?

K and N oil filters are a bit pricey and really perform like the rest.

10K miles eh? Amsoil, Wix, Puralotor are all top of the line filters IMO. Amsoils filters are good for a min. 12.5K.

A more important question is , what oil are you going to run for 10K?

Mobil 1 Extended Performance Fully Synthetic. It's guaranteed for 15000miles, but I'll go with 10000miles.

If your 4R is still under warranty(sp) as it appears to be, being an '05. Toyota recommends a 5,000 mile oil change interval for this to stay in effect.

Alex: My personal favorite is the Toyota filter because I change my oil often and find it a good value.

I completely agree. I have found genuine Toyota filters to be better than most aftermarket filters in the same price range.

The only way your warranty can be voided is that the manufacture can show that you had a engine failure do to extended change intervals. I dare anyone to prove that this has ever happened with a 4Runner. I

ha,that's funny. TRD stuff does cost more because it says TRD on it.

I personally like and have used Purelator PureOne filters for the last 8 years.

I would trust the oil to go 10k a lot more than the filter.

For my .02, I would change the filter at 5k intervals if you plan to go with 10k on the oil.

These may be related to poor engine design, or maybe not. Either way not changing oil frequently enough causes oil to turn to sludge.

Engine design is the number one contributor to sludging. The oil is just the inocent pawn in the whole situation.

I think you need to read the links you posted. They do not show engine failure do to extended drain intervals on a 4Runner. The Toyota link shows a design problem not oil/CI related engine failure.

Engine design is about 99.1% of the sludge problem... poor oil falls into the .9%

Mabye if you drove 70000 on cheap non detergent Dino oil...
