I have read that people are complaining about them fading. Not good, especially living in Arizona.

I’m sure it does in the Arizona sun. As do factory black pieces of plastic if not taken care of properly.

You may be correct that someone was complaining, but this is the first I’ve heard of it.

I haven't used ebay in a long time. Can anyone make a recommendation on a reputable seller, who is truly selling genuine OEM parts. The dealer wanted to charge me around $850 for the grill when I bought my 4Runner.

I had to replace the front valance on mine because it blew off when I drove too fast through deep water. After searching and searching and getting pissed when I would find one reasonably priced then find out the shipping was $50 or something ridiculous like that, I found Bergstrom Toyota Oshkosh, WI on Ebay. At first glance it was not the cheapest but turned out to be when I found out shipping was free. Here is the link to the Valance, but you can IM them on Ebay and they can tell you how much for the grill. It won't be cheap as none of them are because of high demand, but this place should be one of the cheapest since they don't go nuts on shipping.

And one other note, this one didn't come with the clips (didn't need the full set as some of mine were still on the vehicle). Doubt you will need anything extra like clips for the grill but you can check just in case.

Mine was actually product modle 1, very first one off of the first batch. I live in Vegas, no fading so far!

I've seen the TSO side by side to an OEM part and it just doesn't look the same quality. For $410 complete conversion vs $575? I ordered the OEM part today. It just looks, OEM. The letters are what really separate these two parts, apart.

For fading, buy SEM Coat "trim black". It is THE best matching trim paint you can buy.

I posted this on the super-white photo thread, then saw this one and thought I should share my experience here too.

I like the TOYOTA pro-style grille, but have not been willing to shell out the exorbitant amounts Toyota wants for OEM. Recently, Chinese knock-off two-part sets have started to appear on ebay for significantly less, so I pulled the trigger. The one I bought showed that the lettering came with it detached with alignment notches and 3m tape on the back of the letters. It arrived in around 2 weeks and fit just like it was supposed to. It is all unpainted matte black plastic except for the lettering, which came in the usual pewter color. I personally really like the white on black look I've seen on some white Tacomas, so my letters got plasti-dipped in white before installing them on my TRD ORP. The parts fit like a charm. The black plastic on the upper grill is more of a matte finish than the stock part that came off, but all of the clips and screw holes lined up perfectly making the install easy - maybe 1/2 hour. The cross bar part is an overlay that goes over the stock paint-matched piece and adheres with 3m tape that is already on it. It leaves a 1/4 inch gap on either side, so measure and mark the center point to get it lined up in the right spot. The letters are all clean plastic molds that are painted to look like stock. Like the OEM, there isn't much to it really, but it looks good to my eyes.

I paid right around $250 shipped, but I've seen them for less than $200 that may or may not include the TOYOTA letters. The photos on those listings all show the alignment notches on the grill cross bar, but don't show the actual TOYOTA letters in the photos. My highly rated Hong Kong seller's picture of the lettering got his posting removed, but not before I had completed the transaction.

Anyway, I'm happy with the results! YMMV.

Edit: in response to some PM questions, here are some close ups of the gap at the end of the garnish and of the letters, which have been plasti-dipped white. They arrived in the usual color.

This is awesome. I wonder if these TRAIL letters would fit the curve of the China version.
