Great opinion, but you're not driving a unicorn. It's just a 4Runner with TRD added equipment. Now if you had a Ferrari and someone drove by you in a kit car Fiero that looked to be a Ferrari, I would totally agree with you.

It feels good to pretend its a unicorn though lol

The lack of sunroof and the crazy markup in Central Texas are the reasons we just went with a Trail Edition.

The rack of TRD accessories at my dealer has the suspension on it too. I suspect it's just for display. I'm not sure a lot of people will pay $1600 for a set of 6100/5160 shocks that normally cost $1000 and are not height adjustable, but maybe they sell some? I wouldn't have thought people would buy narrower wheels than OEM, but apparently there's quite the demand. Try finding an aftermarket 20" wheel with a 6x139.7 pattern only 7.5" wide - they're unobtanium. I've been patiently waiting for a set of limited 20's to come up for sale so I can run narrower 33" street tread for daily driving, so who am I to judge wanting narrow wheels. The only missing accessory is the sunroof delete option. Otherwise all the TRD Pro accessories are there along with all the other accessory parts like chrome tips and roof racks. The next edition will come with a RTT and some maxtrax pre-installed. Seems to be all the rage.

Now if a TRD Pro had KDSS it might be more of a unicorn. As it is it's basically 2nd position in the offroad category. But top of heap in accessories.

I really still don't quite understand why they decided to make that a 7" inch wheel instead of a 7.5", just seems odd.

I picked up a second set of Trail wheels for a summer set of MTR's and a winter set of BFG KO1's.

The next edition will come with a RTT and some maxtrax pre-installed. Seems to be all the rage.

I admit when I see a rig with only partial TRD Pro parts on it, I think "WTF?". I mean if you're gonna do it, do it right.

I just purchased a set on eBay through a Toyota dealer for $760 shipped. I feel it's a great deal considering how hard they have been to find lately.

Awesome! Yeah looks like they sold out already. I emailed the dealer to see about delivery and they estimate the wheels to get to the dealer tomorrow and shipped out to all who ordered promptly (possible the same day was mentioned).

I have a new 17 Off-Road Premium and tires/wheels are my first mod.

Just bought a set of the black TRD pro wheels last week so now I'm looking for tires. I've been reading and reading about all the different tires and am just overwhelmed with info.

I plan to stay stock lift for a long time as this is my first off road car and my daily driver so I want to learn about off roading first on beginner trails before venturing out to more extreme off roads.

Also, id like to not have to cut/trim any flaps as I don't have the necessary tools.

Can anyone recommend me good tires for socal region daily/trail driving that will fit my stock 17 TRD-ORP with the TRD Pro wheels that will give me better than stock capabilities and look decently aggressive?

If some people are experiencing rubbing with 265/70/17, is it out of the realm of possibility for me to get 275/70/17 in a more capable tire?

I've been thinking about the ko2s or the nitto grapplers as I believe nittos come on the stock trd pro.


Any advice on which tire would be better suited for my needs would be greatly appreciated!

The dealership ordered my set of TRD Pro wheels when they ordered my 4Runner back on 15 MAR 2017. Took delivery of my 4Runner on 08 MAY 2017 and was just called this morning that my wheels have arrived today.

Will a TRD pro wheel (or any aftermarket wheel) fit in the spare tire area? Or are only regular style spares able to be attached there?

Toyota dealer I talked to today about the TRD Wheels said he hasn't heard anything of needing a Pro VIN# to order the wheels. Didn't say yes or no to back order. Said he had some in back he could put on a new 4Runner if I were to buy.

You are going to trim regardless of 265 or 275. You might as well suck it up and go 275. You will lose about .5 mpg though but I am sure you won't be disappointed. It will give you a little extra lift when you offroad and AT traction.

So I called a few places today to get some price quotes on the K02s and one shop told me that running LT tires adds a lot of stress to a car due to heavier weight and was directed to stay at stock size and P rated tires.

Is there any truth to what this tire shop is telling me?

Depending on the shop they will not tell you to run anything other than stock for liability purposes, especially over the phone.
