TRD Pro Stolen

Just wanted to thank everyone, again, for their support. I have gotten a replacement sooner than expected. It's not a 4Runner, but it's still a Toyota. This time, I did purchase a recovery device.

My heart goes out to you on having to go through this. I had a vehicle stolen once and not only do you feel violated, it's a major PITA dealing with all the police and insurance paper work. I do know most insurance companies have a rule that if the air bags deploy or a car has any type of water damage, it's an automatic total. I wish my Z-28 would have gotten totaled. It had just 3k miles on it when stolen and the kids that stole it beat the living crap out of it (back tires were completely bald). Car was a POS when I got it back (even after being "fixed") and I ended up taking it in the shorts and trading it in just to get rid of it.

I'm pretty sure I saw your TRD rebuilt and listed on Craigslist a couple weeks ago. It was listed at $31k

Great looking truck! I haven't driven a new Tacoma yet, but it would have been on my test drive list if I thought the wife would have given it a chance. She drives the 4Runner as much as me, so I had to consider her feelings.

For those of us with older trucks , a quick and easy shifter lock

I welded half a metal link onto T-case shifter

With truck in reverse , tranny shifter and T-case shifter can be locked together

Along with a kill switch , this just adds a little more inconvenience for any would be thief ...

You also have a manual transmission, that should be enough in itself! Ha!

sorry to hear. next get a 2020 Pro. comes with factory tracker and remote disable etc kind of anti theft features

Reviving this thread...are these features actually in the new trd pros? I’m getting one end of march and am worried about it being stolen as the only option I have is of parking it outside.

I have wired security cameras with alerts that record to a hard drive. It’s wired into my router. I can see what’s going on anytime I want. Two of my neighbors have Ring and one also has wired security cameras that incidentally view our house.

I would highly recommend installing a 4K or better wired power over eithernet (PoE) system where its parked at night.

I would recommend Swann however they were recently purchased so I dont know if changes are taking place. They used to have a nice website and now its kinda crap.

Reviving this thread...are these features actually in the new trd pros? I’m getting one end of march and am worried about it being stolen as the only option I have is of parking it outside.

correct. all the features are free for a year and then there is yearly/monthly subscription. features include tracking, remote start stop, emergency aid, on-star like features, access via phone app, designated guest driver with speed control etc
