TRD Pro Stolen

In March, I purchased the TRD Pro. I've been a lurker on here since then. I've enjoyed the 4Runner more than all the vehicles I have had in the past.

This is actually my first post. I wish it could be more pleasant. However, it's not.

I got home on Friday night around 9:30 PM. On Saturday morning, around 9:00 AM, I look out the window to find an empty space. I immediately call the community security, local tow companies, and finally local PD. Sadly, the TRD Pro was taken right in front my house. Local PD told me to go to the station to file the report.

It has been more than 24 hours and I have not heard anything. The vehicle was stolen in Sylmar, California between 9:30 PM on 07/17/15 and 9:00 AM 07/18/15. License # 7LAB981. Please keep an eye out. Thank you in advance.

Stolen Vehicle

Dude, you live in Sylmar! You should have known this was going to happen. :bash:

JK. My brother lives in Sylmar. Very affordable housing for LA.

Sorry to hear the news. I hope they get it back for you. But it my be south of the border in a chop shop by now...

I'm just trying to encourage you man. No harm intended. ;):

I will keep my eyes open for you.

Sorry to hear about this and having a car stolen in the past I know how much it sucks. About the chipped key they might have towed it off this happens a lot now a days nobody suspects a tow truck and it can be done rather quickly.

I don't have an alarm in mine and was wondering how a thief would start it without a chipped key
Same question here. I don't think they would have started it, if anything they towed it out of the driveway and there may or may not be signs of tire scrub...who knows.

Interesting though because the only way I would see it being stolen is with the key itself or a tow truck which would make some noise.

I feel for ya !

when we had our brand new Toyota tacoma limited and it was stolen one month old felt violated and sick at the same time

ours was found after the 30 day for our insurance and was considered totaled

hope you have good insurance that will replace it if needed for me I was glad to just wipe my hands and get a new one

Brother, the sad news it was probably professional thieves and that truck is long gone. My guess is it's 500 pieces by now in a chop shop somewhere in L.A..

I had a new (5k miles) Z-28 stolen back in 1987 and I WISH they never would have found it. Car was completely trashed (back tires were completely bald so you know what they did to it all day long).

Got the car back and it was never the same. Ended up trading it in like 3 months after I got it back.

I would have been much better off if it disappeared and insurance just wrote it off.

Sorry for your loss. Been there and it sucks. As I've said before the thieves are lucky I didn't catch them. I phucking hate thieves and it would not have ended well for them.

I do know one of them was killed by a Denver cop. Punk thief was in another stolen Z-28 and a DPD cop recognized him. Thief gunned the car and went at the cop and the cop shot him through the windshield. Two hits. One the eye and the other in the nose. Payback is a *****. :-)

Hi confuzshuz,

Really sorry to hear about that... I can only imagine how that feels! I was wondering if your vehicle has Toyota's Safety Connect service? It comes with a vehicle locator; just one call and they'll GPS it, then alert the authorities to pick it up, Best to you!

Sorry to hear that some Troll stole your 4runner. I don't understand why Toyota would not put the safety connect SOS button in all models. The location service would be nice for this situation. I did not renew the subscription on mine because I don't think that it would work in the mountains where there is no cell signal (the only time I picture needing it). What I am doing instead is getting my HAM Radio license. Ham radios allow for emergency communication from remote mountainous areas and have ARPS. Automatic Packet Reporting System (APRS) this adds no additional annual operating cost and is the origin of today's lojack.

Sorry to hear that.

Recently I moved to Lake View Terrace and am wondering if this can happen to me too.
I'll keep my eyes open.

Stolen Car

I am sorry for my earlier comments. I know it was not at all funny for you. But Sylmar has a bad rep'.

Hearing all these theories about the vehicle being towed, I have to wonder how they turned the ignition cylinder to get it out of park?

A tip for everyone: Most cars will lock up the steering if you turn it off with the steering wheel in the up side down position. At that point the front wheels are turned slightly and the car can not be pulled very far.
