TRD Skid Plate on limited

According to the official Toyota parts website, it will fit on a 2016 Limited:
Toyota 4Runner Trd front skid plate - PT93800140 - Genuine Toyota Accessory It will also fit later 4Runners too (I have one on my 2018 SR5 Premium).
Keep in mind there are (or were) two versions of the TRD skid plate: one with just the embossed "TRD" symbol and one with red plastic "TRD" inserts. Both are the same physical size, but the size of the "TRD" letters is different. You can get new or replacement "TRD" letters in a variety of colors from Tuffskinz.

The limited doesn't have KDSS so not an issue on that front.

Not trying to hijack this thread. Just thought I would ask my question since the OP received his answer and I have basically the same question with a different year.
I have a 2012 LE and the skid plate is starting to look like swiss cheese. Does anyone know if the TRD skid plate will fit an early model LE?
I looked at RCI, but I would have to purchase an addition piece to cover my radiator. That's why I'm interested in the TRD.

The Toyota parts web site and the instruction sheet says it fits 2014 and up.
Check with your dealer or the parts web site for the part number for your existing skid plate, then do a Google search for that part number to see if it is still available.

Maybe check again, on RCI the extra piece that spans rad area, isnt used on the Limited. When you install RCI skid on limited, theres a gap that remains..
That is the problem with most after market skids, they only go up to the cross member where they attach.
That is the beauty of the OEM TRD skid, for it goes much higher, almost to the bottom of the front bumper cover. Look at any picture of the TRD skid and you will see what I mean; the front mounting bolts are attached to that front cross member where the other skids stop.

Yeah but on the limited I think it would mean the top bolts are not held in by metal but are bolted into the front bumper faschia which is all plastic. A bigger concern over hiding the gap or whatever skid plate you use is the limited has a lower chin which can get crunched.
Not so. All 4Runners, regardless of trim level, have the steel cross member framing just below the radiator. That is where the TRD skid bolts to. You have to remove any thing in front of that.

That's right. I can't remember all the way but I think there are two versions. kdss and regular sway bar front skid.

That's correct. It mounts on the front member your tow I mean "recovery" points are welded through. I don't think plastic would do the trick.

Why cover the radiator from the front? It's protected by cross member and bumper. My 2010 skid has no front extra piece like you describe.

I think he means from the underside. if you take out the plastic shield that goes from the front bumper to where the non TRD skid plate hinges there is exposure to the radiator from the bottom. not much, but not zero

I know the piece you mean, but the limited has a plastic section that bolts from the metal rad bar to the front plastic spoiler rear. The front section is plastic to plastic. Its only the rear connection that is plastic to metal. I have the plastic sandwhich piece that fits in there sitting in my garage. Now theres a gap as it doesnt fit right with the RCI skid plate. There is no metal under the the front of the limited plastic bumper at the bottom. The metal begins after the gap which is about 6 inches or so. Ill get you a pic if you want to see it.

Yeah let's see a picture.. I ripped all that plastic trash out after building my own bumper. I have complete protection from underneath with the OEM SR5 skid.

I also rammed the sh1t out of a stump which destroyed that front cross member we're talking about. So I'm pretty familiar with that area after fabricating and welding in a new cross member at OEM spec dimensions and clearances.
