TRD Skid Plates Discontinued?

Hey guys,

Not sure if this is old news or something that happened recently.

I placed an order a few days ago with an online parts store and received an email stating that the TRD skid plate part number was discontinued.

"Unfortunately 1 or more items you ordered (Order#28153) have been discontinued with no replacement by the manufacturer. We have cancelled your order for these items and all payments have been refunded. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Your discontinued part number is: PT93800140

Thank you."

I have started to see them slowly sell out on eBay too.

I think they likely just created a new part # for the new TRDP skid plate with red inlays for the 2019's

This. The part number PT938-00140 (TRD Stamped Aluminum Front Skid Plate) is being substituted by PTR60-89190 (Front Skid Plate - Powder Coated) which is currently on "stop sale". Possible reason could be that they are being held for production vehicles.

I ordered a PTR60-89190 on ebay and this is how it looks. It came with the red lettering all ready on it. $298.99 shipped.

I just installed this and in the included instructions it says not to take off the radiator support arms, just take out the front 4 bolts, leaving the rear 2 bolts. I was skeptical but tried it anyway and it fit like a charm. No issues. I read that the arms had to come off from others, oh well I'm happy.

I've been looking for one...oempartsforyou.com has PT938-00140 for $247.50, but 77 bucks for shipping-I think I will wait it out.

Can't seem to find one for sale..:fish2:
 
Some info on the 2019 version. Just got one.

1. The TRD logo is smaller. I ordered a Tufskinz insert and is is way to large. Didn’t want the red.
2. The red TRD logo uses snap posts and holes to mount, not tape. So if you think you can just peel it off and it will look like last years, it won’t lots of holes.
 
After wanting the stamped TRD skid all summer, wasn't sure about the new Red TRD (plastic insert) but it grew on me fast.

2019 Version from local dealer today, looked up the part number on Toyota Parts Center Online, there is a new number. Stock Code PTR6089190 parts.toyota.com

Simple install, (I ditched the stock plastic cover as per instructions)

Also as Texas_Ranger mentioned and per instructions you leave the support arms on, removing the 4 forward bolts (leaving the 2 at the very back of arms). Fit like a glove.

I used the 4 new supplied bolts (2 are inserted already in front area of skid with spacers) (the back 2 supplied are longer) and did not have to tap those holes out. Parts guy said 14+ you shouldn't have to. (another thread I was reading some said they had to)
The stock bolts that these longer ones replaced were shorter and thinner on the ends but the new ones went in fine with normal wrenching (nothing forced).

Ok.. now.. no new add-ons or mods until spring. Hahaha right.

I purchased my 2018 Pro in early September this year and it came with the red inserts. There were no dealer add ons and I don’t think the dealership did it. Maybe the late build 2018’s received the new skid? Anyone else have a 2018 Pro that came with the red inserts?

Hi all I want to confirm whether the new P/N PTR6089190 of skid works with KDSS w/o modification. The old one had a note on Toyota's parts site that it interferes and the new one doesn't have this note, so I assume it works

SlvrRnnR - looks like you mounted on a new ORP - Does yours have KDSS? IF so that'd be great confirmation (I just got a '19 TRD OR, first 4runner/Toyota for me)
