Looks good! Did you use Rustoleum and did you prime first or just go direct?

is it easier to paint the letters with a paint brush or spray can and just mask it off? I dont want it to run into the letters though.

new here, been browsing online and it seems T4RO is the best and most comprehensive forum for 4R enthusiasts. with all that aside, Ive called several toyota shops in my area and none can tell me if the TRDP skid will fit my '16 SR5P...

any ideas? or anybody have had this done? I would think that it would just slap on, no problem. there aren't any differences up front, underneath between the two models.

It will fit. About the only possible issue is with Trail versions with KDSS (lower stabilizer bar).

And yes, this forum is the best.

Yep, as [MENTION=126566]jwkilgore[/MENTION] stated, it will fit just as you see in the first post.

You could read thru this thread http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/176518-trd-pro-parts.html and gain some more info as well. Look at post #58, it will give you some pointers to avoid some potential, slight, unforeseen issues!

There have been some here that have modified the skid plate to fit (a little cutting) even when they had KDSS versions.

I had mine powder coated textured black. Then left it at that. The red/white lettering looks great. But I couldn't get the plastidip letters to stick after I got it powder coated. Overall I'm still happy with it. Glad you got yours on. Looks great.

Pix ? I’m possibly doing the same . Order a skid plate at $215 with red lettering already. Powder coating it black , cost ?

Since this thread is trending and I’ve gotta get a new skid as mine has rusted away... Are there tabs on the front for it to “hang” on?

The Southern Slimline has me concerned on fit. Anyone with their winch bumper have a TRD plate?

I just installed the Southern Style Offroad Slimline bumper and I have the TRD skid plate. There is a small plate that came on the bumper that needed to be removed so the front of the skid plate fits slightly up & behind the bottom edge of the bumper.

The lack of tabs never concerned me. With a small jack, it is an easy install.

Jeff614, I held the skid plate up with my knees and hand to get each of the bolts started. While certainly easier with help of another person or a jack, it was manageable by myself. I think I got the two back bolts started first, then pushed the skid plate up with my hand to start the two front bolts. I also noticed there was a little bit of play around the bolts, so make sure the alignment of each bolt is right before tightening. I think this is how/why others are getting the bolts cross-threaded. A couple of times, the bolt caught on the threads, but I couldn’t hand-tighten it and could see it was angled. I knew from screwing each bolt into each hole without the skid plate in place that I should be able to hand-tighten the bolts without much effort. Once I got the alignment of each bolt right through the skid plate hole, I was able to hand-tighten each bolt a long way before needing the wrench. (I would post a photo of it installed, but can’t seem to get it uploaded. I’ll work on that.)

Saker - At some point, I plan to take the skid plate back off & paint it black!

Someone shared this thread with me, I just had my silver TRD skid plate powder coated in textured satin black and reinstalled the red letters with new 3m tape. The stock silver really was putting a damper on the theme of the truck! I don’t beat it on rocks so not worried about it chipping.

I guess I’m the only one that likes the Pro grey that came on my Pro. Added the LCA skids in Pro grey and when I receive my C4 skids with the Pro integration skid and trans and transfer case skids I will powder coat them Pro grey. I think the scuffs and dents don’t show as bad on grey. I have a couple hits on mine, the most noticeable by the red R. I do like the black with the red letters.

My wife is the one who mentioned that the silver plate on the black truck looked "clunky and really obvious". After she pointed it out, I couldn't unsee the silver.
Off to the powdercoater for a sand blast and a coat of non textured flat black.
Reinstalled the stock red letters...MUCH better!

Yep, I suggested this in your powder coat thread.
I started this thread some years back shortly after the skids hit the market and were available to us.
I just was not happy with the silver. Agreed, it kinda looked out of place!

I personally can't hand the TRD plastic lettering in an area that is meant to protect when off-roading. Does anyone know anyone or anywhere I can source that older solid version one that was from like 2017?! Any leads at all would be insanely helpful !
