Does anyone know what the price is for the Tacoma TRD snorkel? And has anyone thought about retrofitting it onto the 4runner or if it's possible?

Because it's an oem TRD snorkel and it's not as bulky as an ARB. There are other options out there also but I'm sure it's bound to be done sooner or later.
It's for a different vehicle, with different body lines/measurements, that uses a different engine/airbox... I feel like there would be no reason for someone to attempt to "make it work" when an off the shelf option exists for our trucks

As much as I like TRD labeled logos on our toys, I was sold on the TJM design that came out just this year and you can't find a snorkel any cheaper than this at the moment.

You could say that the Prado is different vehicle and and has "different lines" but there's quite a few guys that run a Prado snorkel on 5th gens. Also Tacoma intakes are on the same side and pretty close to being the same and it wouldn't even affect the snorkel.

The prado snorkel was used before there were any options for the 5th gen.......

*I have now thought of it and I think its a terrible idea but if someone does it and its awesome I will gladly reverse my view
*I am sure with enough body filler and modifications it can be done - or maybe its 100% bolt up :dance:

First off, a snorkel is a snorkel. They all work the same. I just like the look of the TRD snorkel. An idea is stupid, but as soon as someone does it, it's the coolest thing in world. You haters make no sense.

That TJM unit looks pretty clean....I don't know how the address the intake tubing as it penetrates the inner fender more forward of where they show it connecting to the outside of the fender. You're definately drilling the A pillar for that unit though I bet. I used 30lb double sided tape on my ARB unit as there are plenty of bolts holding it to the fender and drilling the A pillar is IMO not necessary.
Either way, the TRD unit if I'm not mistaken is just an air intake that looks like a snorkel, it's not water proof so to speak. Kinda defeats the purpose IMO.
You can buy "TRD" snorkel intake grills if you want for the ARB unit.

The answer to your question is no, nobody has thought seriously about adapting a Tacoma snorkel to a 4Runner. This is because it would take more time, money, and hassle than it's worth for pretty much zero reason other than looks. If you're installing a snorkel/dust intake for no other reason than to look cool, that's really up to you and you're in small company. Not many people are willing to hack up their sheetmetal to mash on an ill-fitting part when there are already model specific units available.
Are you mechanically inclined? If you can buy a TRD Tacoma snorkel for $500 and then spend another $500 remaking EVERYTHING to fit, please jump in and do a write-up. But not very many folks will be interested when there are $300 options ready to bolt on. Not everyone who disagrees with your methodology is a hater. In this case, they are politely using logic to show you why the juice is probably not worth the squeeze.

looking at his IG page, there's a front end pic taken in a self-wash station. fitment along the A-Pillar looks f*king awful. like you said, aftermarket fenders probably aren't helping, but it just looks wrong

It's not a TRD Tacoma snorkel, it's OEM from a Hilux.

This thread just reminded me that I need to go and buy that TRD seat cover made for the corolla, and the TRD shift knob for a versa, and TRD steering wheel cover made for the prius, and a TRD soda can cover/cooler thingie, so I can be a trendsetter too on instagram....

I've been researching this too. The TRD snorkel other than the stupid "TRD" printed on it it actually looks better than all the other 4runner options. The TJM snorkel has a major flaw, because the intake hugs the windshield there has been lots of issues of rain flying up the windshield and pouring down the intake of the snorkel so the TJM is off the plate for me.
The ARB snorkel is way too big and bulky and looks out of place on the 4runner. The TRD snorkel on the Tacomas is the first snorkel Ive seen that is proportioned right to the vehicle and slimlined so I was hoping toyota would start making it for the 4runners. Wishfull thinking I guess, we will see.
And yes to get useful information on the forum you have to read past all the haters and whiners that just wanna tell you how stupid your idea is until you get some useful info from someone
