I bet I can got one to work. As long as the intake manifold gaskets are the same should bolt on to the block. Same with the throttle body. Find a belt that fits and run an AEM FIC for engine management.

It can deffinately help to see the "new car feature book" from TIS and a visual comparison of the belt pullies on both years.

I take it back. just found this. Check the last post:

An Adapter plate is possible or just machine a new one and weld it on the SC unit is easier but I doubt you want it that bad. I estimate $2k mod, tune and install cost if I did it.

I heard it was a ECU problem, not a problem actually fitting the hardware to the engine. They couldn't get the fuel mapping to work quite right with the VVT-i.

EDIT: I could be wrong though.. just going of memory. anyway.. enough hijacking your post.

this isn't a hijack considering its in a discussion forum and not classified. I can get an AEM FIC to work fine on a vvt-i motor. I have one on my 1zz-fe vvti motor now. It's been running great for the last 2 years.

I always wanted to test fit one.

I actually have an AEM FIC laying around, but it's from a 4-cylinder car, I think you need the higher model FIC for 8 cylinder engines or else I'd let you try it... I'm in the process of upgrading that car to a full Cosworth standalone EMS (although the FIC worked great for low boost, it's not gonna cut it for what I have planned).

the one you have would work since we use additional injectors as apposed to having to modify each individual injector pulse be cause of larger injectors. The greatest thing about the AEM FIC is that is alters the crank and cam signal to re**** timing as apposed to each individual coil trigger like the Split Sec/URD
