TRD Supercharger for 4.0 in 2/07...

My first reaction was if you wanted more power why not just get a V8... but then I remembered this motor is used in the Taco and FJ too where no V8 is available, so now I understand why... making it available for the 4runner was probably just something they thought would tack-on a few sales.
Hmmm... I assume as usual it doesn't affect the warranty? If I got one of those I would absolutely no questions buy the extended 100k mile warranty for the 4runner... but fact is we'll probably get a new 4runner or GX when the new design comes out anyway and I'm hoping we might see the new 380ish hp 5.7L in the 4runner or at least the GX.
Actually that made me think... isn't the Taco's and FJ's engine bay about the same size as the 4runner's? Transmission should be roughly the same too, right? So why no V8 in those vehicles? A V8 FJ would certainly appeal to a lot of the guys I hear saying the FJ is a chick vehicle. And in the Taco it would make an excellent add-on for the X-runner or anyone else who's performance minded or wants some extra grunt for towing.

Can't answer for the FJ, I'm going to guess if the V6 is adequate for the 4R it's fine in the FJ since it's a little bit smaller. The '05 Taco with the V6 is rated to tow 6500lbs, 1500lbs more than a 4R with the V6. As for the Taco, easy. It would kill Tundra sales. That's why Toyota didn't even off a or a reg cab long bed 1-ton in the previous gen Tacoma. When we had our '90 pickup, there was a 1-ton reg cab longbed available. The 1-ton was axed when the T100 came out. This was when U-Haul and Hertz Penske all had Toyota trucks for the smaller moving trucks.

I have wondered why there is no 4.7 V8 Tecoma as well, but against the old Tundra it probably would have stolen sales. No with the 07 monster in its own league there may be a demand for one, besides the Dakota its Mitsubishi brother, I cant think of another midsize V8 truck, though with a V8 Pathfinder now coming to market can a V8 Frontier be far behind? so much for the gas crisis!

Rumor is that the 4.7L will be replaced with a 4.5L engine, and the 5.7L will be reserved for the full-sized trucks/SUVs in their line up.
