I hope you are a professional photographer. You have a good eye for photo taking.

I'm curious if 285 width tires would fit on the pro with the stock suspension. I already know the 7" rims are fine as I run this width on my stock 7" wide rims.

I barely made it w/ 275's on the stock TRD suspension w/o modification. You might be able to squeeze it in, but not without pushing the fender liner forward a bit. Maybe the mudflap too a little. My concern would be stuffing space on compression. I think if you're keeping the TRD stock height, then 275's are the best bet. No worries... just works.

Yes... we'll do it. I need a week or so and then we can plan something. Good eyes on RedRock. It was past the visitor's center by a mile or two. Congrats on your truck. We need to get them all together in Vegas and do a shoot with 'em all.

A proper TRD Pro! the best part is you have a very capable vehicle without voiding your warranty. I'm looking to take delivery in the next few weeks on a TRDP and you have inspired me to make a few mods. I like your N-FAB's. I'm not a big fan of the factory step so I left it off.

I appreciate the good words. I know... these things are overpriced, but it's worth it to me as I use it for many things like work, family, camping, towing. It has a lot of value to us in what it does for us.

I am not a wealthy man. I invest heavily up front in the vehicle I want/need and then use it for 10-13 years like my last '99 Runner that I sold in '12. Got my money's worth outta that one. I don't spend frivolously either, rather I like what I like and I'll sacrifice in other areas to make it happen. Sell this, sell that and create the proper funding that way. Believe me... I'm just about done spending on the rig. It's been a bit painful, but now it's mostly over for a looooong time.
I'd just rather do it all at once than to add a piece every year over 6 years.

At the end of the day I'm more a function over cosmetic guy so I really don't care what a vehicle looks like as long as it does what I need it do to... strictly cosmetic or appearance items are "wants" in my opinion and I'm not willing to pay full price for those as they aren't essentials to me. If I desire those, I always buy used and let someone else take the depreciation hit. Regardless what is said, a vehicle can very rarely ever be considered a financial asset and certainly a stupid 4Runner will never be considered a financial asset, ever.

I'm not sure where you got "financial asset". I never said I considered my truck a "financial" asset. I certainly don't expect a "financial return" on this vehicle. However, my term "invest" meant more of creating a vehicle that will pay us back in functionality, family use, helping others and many other reasons.

It IS an "ASSET" to me and my family. We love it and it serves us very, very well.

I, on the other hand do happen to care about both functionality AND appearance (for professional purposes), which is why I bought what I bought brand new. I use it for my business, so a clean, professional image happens to be very important as well as functionality.

I also got extremely good deals on everything I bought... brand new items at less than retail, so that helps w/ depreciation a little bit. I always have an eye on that too.

Lastly, I'm glad that you love your 4runner as much as I love mine. If they were all the same, it'd be really boring around here. Best of luck modding your rig and I wish you nothing but the best!

Gobi roof rack and ladder

Great looking ride and even better photos. Thanks for posting your list of upgrades.
I really like the low profile roof rack. That would serve me well with my low garage door opening. I've been looking for one of these. It looks like the rack is installed in place of Toyota's stock roof rails. Is that right? The Gobi site shows a few views too but no details about installation.
Also the roof access ladder appears to attach to the back hatch. The features listed say, "•No Drilling required! Uses existing body and or frame mounting points" and "•Easy to follow step by step installation instructions." Is the ladder attached at the hinge? How is it attached at the bottom?
