Well this has turned into another thread full of ignorant people bashing a product they have never used in their life.
My treadwrights have been good except for the unexplained uneven tread wear. When I purchased the tires, the customer service was great. Now, I've been trying time and time again to contact them about my problem with absolutely no response. The way that they handle my complaint in the end will decide whether I buy from them again or not.
Did you see what I did there? I evaluated a product based on MY experience. If you think about it really hard, it does make sense, doesn't it?
Ignorant is ASSUMING that I and others have no experience with retreads/recaps/remolds.
Ignorant is also assuming that a retread is different from a recap/remold.
Hint, they are all terms for the same process.
Back in my consumer car repair days, I saw a lot of failed retreads, far more failures than that of original construction tires. The retread failures were often shortly after those "new" retreads had recently been installed on a vehicle. The irony is that retreads are a small percentage of tires on the road. But most of the retreads I did see, was because they had failed.
The process of retreading/recapping/remolding hasn't changed appreciably since the inception of the process.
Did you see what I did there? I pointed out your incorrect assumptions, corrected your incorrect statement, and listed my own experience.
Run retreads if you want. But spreading misinformation about them is a disservice to those that might not know otherwise.
Have a nice day.
