Tree Sap Removal?

I hate sap...:AK47:
There are trees everywhere I park, so how do you get sap off a windshield??

And how do you get sap off of the paint without damaging it??
Any Ideas?

I use turtle wax "bug n tar" removal. If you look on the lable, tree sap is included in the stuff it can take off. If you have alot, try claying some of the sap off then hit it with bug n tar. Worked like a charm for me. Good luck

I use a razor on glass. Go nice and easy in an angle. WD40 or ClayBar will clean up any other residue

Yeah... I've used it with great success getting tar, sap, and bugs off the cars.

I use this stuff too. It works really well and doesn't leave any residue or film behind like WD-40 will.

Rubbing alcohol works really well and doesnt hurt your paint. ive used it for yrs. Just have to follow up with a clean damp rag to remove any left over residue.

Thanks for all the input guys. I have tried the razor blade before on the window...worked pretty well.

I just used clay bar on my car a month ago....with the time that took I told myself I was going to wait at least another 4 months before I do that again. haha

Lucky find. I am not big on detailing my car but I just got a bunch of wax on it and didn't know how to take it off. I think I'll try the alcohol and wd40 since it's readily available...

A 50/50 mix of isopropyl alcohol and distilled water should suffice. If not, then I would step to full strength isopropyl alcohol. I don't think you will need WD-40, unless it's really great wax.

I know the thread is a month old and the problem is probably already taken care of but i worked in a stealership detail center for 4 years and 3M make an actual tree sap remover that works perfect, just spray and wait a minute then it comes right off with minimal effort from a plastic razor blade. As for prevention use a thick past wax on the hood and roof and that will help with removal next time and last but not least remember not to leave the sap unattended for to long because i have seen it eat threw clear coat and worst case right threw the paint to many times :crybaby: Good Luck

Tree sap?

Try an ice cube from the fridge, hold it in a wash cloth with the ice directly on the painted surface or glass. It just snaps and melts it. Amazed the heck out of me how it will clean other crap from the paint with very little effort.

I grab a handful of cubes an toss them in a bowl and spend 30 minutes doing the whole vehicle.
