Baja designs for the win. ON X bar and squadron lights. Yes they are expensive. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

LEDs are relacing lighting on aircraft, interior and exterior. I am not an engineer on the program so I dont know the specific details, I just know the technology is out there. Hopefully it will catch up to us little consumers and the price will be reasonable.
I am not a fan of product made in China and if I had known this I may not have ordered them. I did not investigate it so that is on me.
We shall see how they preform
Good luck on your runs and keep giving feedback to the vendors on product performance. It helps all of us. Including Treklights.

Lets try this again, first , i would prefer to purchase a product made in the USA, Now i can not speak for the internals of a rigid light or light bar as far as being 100% made in the USA, they claim to be a USA product, I have used the E series light bar in a 30" unit, the dually's on my 4runner in amber spots, and have used the D'2'S. All were impressive, especially the D-2 lights for the performance to size ratio, it is a 3"x3" light that packs a punch. All were impressive in the destructive department and have lived being mistreated.
The BAJA designs squadron light is a 3"x3" light that really puts out some light, but the downfall is the price, the average guy is not going to spend that kind of coin for small lights.
Now, as LED tech is ever changing, it still has not come to the point that it can equal the throw of a Quality HID light. Basically, in fast desert racing, one can outrun a Led light, yet it will not be done with a HID light of high caliber. I have compared the Baja designs on x bar to the Baja Designs 8" sol tek hids with 55 watt osram ballast, and there is no comparison, hands down the HID outshines the top rated LED bar on the market. Now a 1 cell 4 led ON X bar start at $400.00, a standard 8" sol tek hid starts at $400.00, a 55 watt osram ballast sol tek starts at $600.00 per light. Way more then the average Joe is going to spend, Yet you get the best made, indestructible , super bright light. Yes these are geared towards the desert race guys.
I have raced with LED's and Hid's, and at this point in time prefer a HID light hands down any day. The heat of the bulb rating has a lot to do with everything as well, and i think that 5500 kelvins is the preferred rating for driving lights.
Led tech is on the super fast movement, and will surpass HID lights soon. Look at where LED was 3 years ago, and compare it to today. If you want bright LED'S, look for something that has 10 watt LED's that are pushed to there limits, and you will find bright LEd's.
Here is a few pics of a truck with Baja Designs 8' sol tek's taking a nasty hit from a roll last weekend in San Felipe, the lights survived just fine and work as new right now after taking a serious hit and then rolling 3 times.
The light discussed in this thread are cheap in price, but my experience has taught me that along with that price point comes quality issues. aside from how well these lights perform, what kind of warranty do they have ? Have the light been torture tested ? not just dunked in water, but pounded on ?

I do not work for, or am not affiliated with rigid or Baja Designs. Just long time user of there products in a harsh envirnoment.

Those are definitely some cool videos of a gazillion bucks in lighting being destroyed but they don't really show anything of the durability of their lights over their competitor. All those videos prove are that guns shoot, saws cut, drills drill and hammers smash.
Bottom line, rigid advertises their lights in the same rating as the rest of the overseas lights at IP67 and IP68.
I'm not saying that rigid lights aren't great but you're paying for a premium and most of the time with a "high end" company, you're also buying the name.

Post up some videos of Trek lights being smashed, dragged, shot, pounded on, then we will talk.
I'm pretty sure that if I smash, shoot or cut any light they will all end up either flat, cut in half, or full of holes. As far as what light is better in regards to the light beam or how far the light goes or whatever light tech you wanna compare, I cannot tell you the first thing about it. I'm not knocking either light (I got some trek lights because his lights are 1/3 the price of rigid), I'm just saying that rigid's test was pretty inconclusive as far as them showing that they are any better than their competitors and that you ARE buying their name.

Inconclusive until Treklights posts videos of there lights being pushed into the ringer like the rigid lights . 1 /3 of the cost, good savings, But in the end, is it still worth it ? you make the call. I said it before, for the average creepy crawler or adventure camping guy, i am sure these lights are just fine. Just not something i would bolt onto my desert race vehicle or prerunner.
Send me a trek light bar and i will pound the crap out of it just like in the videos posted above, and i will post videos of the outcome.

If the best price is your only consideration, then China has what you need.
If proven results backed by lifetime warranty vs looks like a duck, quack likes a duck it must be a duck because they said so. LOL been there done that!
China-made products are notorious for copycat look-like products without consideration for quality. At 1/3 the cost it's still a hefty investment at $100-$400.
The rubber, metal, castings and electronics parts constituent 100% of the components to make these China led light/bars. All of which are known to be lesser quality when coming out of Republic of China.
I think everyone made an educated decision based on researching the facts then, pulled the trigger when their pocket book could afford their decision.
It's all a gamble USA or anywhere, it's all about the warranty on electronic parts for me.

It looks like they are starting a second group buy on Monday. I hope the effort and time required for a second one doesn't delay the delivery of lights to the people that jumped on the first one. I think a second group buy would be more successful after it was shown that the first had gone rather smooth and there were a bunch of satisfied customers.

That is comedy right there, this thread was started on 1/28/13, today is 3/20/13 and nobody has received shizzle, some have not received invoices to date.

I've sat back and lurked this thread for a while but I really have to chime in and say you're becoming quite irritating. Let me add that I have no affiliation with Troy whatsoever, nor did I even purchase anything from the group buy; but when I had any questions, he responded in a very professional manner and clarified all my concerns.
Whatever he's selling may or may not be your cup of tea, but why must you constantly bash it, over and over and over again? Calling it beating a dead horse would an understatement. I think every body gets the point, they are on the cheaper end of the spectrum and made in China.
Do you see anyone here going into a Rigid LED lights thread and repeatedly reminding everyone that owns a set that they just spent 1000 bucks on a set of lights that cost ~10 bucks to make? (I'm just throwing out hypothetical figures here, in case you feel the need to try to correct my statement)
I'm not even knocking on Rigid products, there is no argument that they top notch quality and will last you a while, but is it really relevant in this thread?
