TrekLights LED Light Bar Group Buy

Just to explain my involvement to everyone with the FJ Northeasters and tacomaworld group buys (been copy and pasting this):

How I got involved:

I was prowling around t4r looking at the various venders on the site and took a look at trek. I saw there were these little lights and I thought they would be great as reverse lights, so I posted a link on tacomaworld (TW). Not much later, Troy signed up on TW and said "wow I got 20 hits from this one page. If any of you are interested in a group buy, I'll give you 2 4" XT's for setting up a list" I got to lead the GB because I was the one that posted the link.

I wanted to get my 4" XTs early to be able to test them and demo them. I found out he was heading up to Portland, ME to do a project and I met him at the airport to pick up the lights. He is in fact a real person.

I thought it was simple. Set up a list, update it, and my job was done once the GB closed.

How we know he is a real person:

If you look his name up you will find his home address as well as his LinkedIn profile. Calling the business phone you will get his secretary.

Someone called today (SVdude). The secretary said he is out of the country on business without telling us.... Lame

Again, assuming he's legit, my gut feeling is he's overwhelmed with unexpected / underestimated cost or logistics and will eventually deliver as promised.

His current obstacle is self imploding from numerous request for refunds, due to holding " paid for product " and no customers. Also know as product rich and cash poor.

Business ventures funded by the end customer is an accident waiting to happen. BTW, gone overseas, another flag, I would not hesitate to start whatever recourse you have to reclaim your funds.

For those in the mix, be proactive rather than reactive, you can always reverse the process.

Just passing on my "old bones" common sense opinion.

I would just like to take the opportunity to thank the Mods here at T4R.org (SVDude, MoMo :cheers for their help and support. I believe they are what make this forum a great place to be. I think I'll be ok with the dispute filed, but hope the others will fair as well too.

Troy could've easily cleaned this mess up, but chose to ignore his paying customers(that have been paid up for pretty much a month) and treat them like shit.... too bad...it's going to leave a bad taste about group buys in the future.

The mods will do more of an initiation process for future group buys. At least I will. That way we know they are legit.

Thanks man. I am sorry this has bitten so many people. I understand stuff happens but when you just start ignoring the people that have entrusted you with their money for a product, you owe it to them to give them the facts....the real facts.

I have made some really good friends, thanks to this site. I take it personally when somebody comes on here and takes advantage of the other members. It is like coming into my house and being disrespectful.

I didn't realize the group buy was over hear as well. I ordered over on IH8MUD where the situation isn't any better than here. Was hoping Troy was going to fly in with a cape and come through but it would seem otherwise. Lessons learned I suppose and now to see if I can get my money back.

I'm not part of this group buy, but I've been following it.... it seems to me he said he received the lights on the 10th and "has been processing and shipping orders"....
