Trimming SR5 flares

Does any one have any pics of how they trimmed their rear SR5 flares? You know, the part that hangs down past the body. The flares look fine with running boards but IMO, they look kinda lame w/o them. I've ran it like this for many years, but lately it's been annoying me.

Before I go and hack them up, I'd like to see where and how other people have trimmed them. what did you guys use to do it with, sawsall, hotknife? I would rather modify mine than spend $$ on Bushwackers.

Just remove the flares.

I actually tried that years ago, but the clear coat underneath is scratched to hell from sand and dirt getting in-between the body and the flares and it looked terrible.

Curve the cut with the bottom of the bumper. Hard to explain sorry.

Not sure what you mean. I'm talking about hacking off the plastic that sticks out past the bottom of the body on the running board side of the rear wheels.

Nobody has any pics? I'm sure I'm not the only one who has thought about hacking these things off.

Well, I went ahead and did some hacking with the sawsall. I marked a line on the flares with a pen and a phonebook (used as a straight edge), took the flares off, stuck em in a vise, cut them with the saw and then filed them smooth. I think they turned out looking way better than before. I left the pinch weld hanging below because I think it looks better to end the flares with the roll of the body rather than going too the bottom of the pinch weld:

I also picked up some Wade in-channel rain guards and am liking those with all the wet weather we've had lately.
