Trimming to fit 285s

Just recently installed the OME lift on my runner, along with diff drop, swaybar relocate, and wheel spacers. Fit them with 285/70/17 BFG Rugged Terrains. I know they were going to rub a bit as Ive done my research on how these tires fit.
From searching here I moved the liners in and cut a bit of the fender (see pics), but when under flex they still rub like a b****. I asked some advice from a buddy that has a custom crawler and he said to start cutting more of the fender out along the little fender piece towards the front of the car.
Since I dont want to start hacking away at my fender and risking it looking like s***, I want to see what other people have done to make 285s fit. Beyond what Ive already done or a new bumper, I havent seen anything that helps.

Cheers

Lol,,,just the nature of the beast. Stuffing tires bigger then the body is designed for will do that.

You've already taken the first step which is trimming. That's unavoidable. Keep trimming. Have you considered a body lift? That should help out quite a bit. Check the body mount behind the front tires. I bet there's rubbing there at full lock and stuff. You might also have to do a body mount chop.

How did you do the trimming that you already did? If you're not flexing does it still rub at full rotation? When I get 285s I'm gonna be doing the same thing you did hopefully.

It does not rub at all unless the tire is pushed up into the wheel well a bit. What Ive done with the liners is simply unscrewed them and pushed them up and screwed them back into one of the further forward holes. Its hard for me to explain so here is the link I used for the idea.

After that I used some large snips to cut the other mounts off and rounded off the bottom corner of the bumper. Again, use the link above and compare what he did to my pics and that should give you a good idea.

Like I said before, I only rub when the tire is pushed into the wheel well a bit. Looks like I may have to do the body mount chop and cut some more out of the fender.
Here is a good write up on the body mount chop:

What Im thinking Ill do is either find a rock or rig some kind of lift under the tire and raise it while turning to find the bad spots. Also thought about getting some kind of chalk and putting it on the inside of the fenders and drive around hard to find where the tires are rubbing the chalk off.

No rubbing here, i had access to an air saw and cut the sh!t out of my bumper. We put it at full flex, traced and cut the plastic away. If you want ill post pics later.

Chris, that would be a HUGE help! If you dont mind Id like to see those. Also, how did you get it at full flex? on the trail?

I found the rubbing on the trail and used the forklift at the TC marina to put it at full flex. Cant tell you how pissed i am that i didnt take pics! I was busy making sure my rig was safe and upright.

My bumper is beat to sh!t from snow burms so i didnt care what i trimmed off. I lost the passenger liner a while ago when my studded tires got a hold of it and ripped it out. Started trimming after that.

Now im starting to plan for 35's!!!!

I suppose I cant blame you for caring about the truck rather than pics. I was thinking about the forklift idea...but I dont seem to have a forklift laying around. I do however have an engine lift so maybe I can rig something.

That sucks about the liner, but must have been a pretty funny day the studs tore out the liner.

Id be interested in seeing what youve trimmed to not make it rub when flexed to get an idea. And yeah, Ive got the P rated tires.

Are you going to lift it anymore with a BL to fit the 35s or just trim more?

Use a dremel with a cut off wheel, PM me your E-mail, I sent someone i write up i did on how to fit 33/12.50's on my car w/ pics

I love what you did with the trimming. I just got the same exact tires for my 2006 SR5. I'm running a 3 inch lift. I also just got some new Tuff T01 Rims with a +10mm offset. I'm looking to buy spacers next to insure as little rubbing as possible. What size should I buy. I was thinking a 2 inch. Also will buying bigger wheel spacers create more rubbing elsewhere? I've been doing a lot of research but I cant seem to find an answer to these issues. Please Help!
