trip (miles left) meter for v8 4wd er's

Not sure how this came about, but my trip meter now shows numbers that i have not seen under 20000 miles.

from the day i picked it up till last week, i have never seen the "miles left computer" show anything above 330 miles.

Ever since i have broken 20k, i see 360 miles left... what gives? did the engine break in? is there an extra compartment the gas found???

someone enlighten me please!

Did your driving technique change or do you now do more highway driving?? Are you using more cruise control now??

Anyway, i would just be happy that the number went up, and not down.

I think you broke her cherry and she's running a little easier now- a little more laid back. Really though, the most I have ever posted on my computer was 321 miles and I have just broken 10K mark. How quick do the miles drop from your new high down to where the old high mark used to be? What I mean is, do the miles drop off one-by-one, or in increments?

360? you should be happy. mine shows 272 when i fill up!!!

330 for me but it used to be higher. When I noticed it, it read once 362 and then 342 and now 330 - 338. Do an odometer check, mine is dead on accurate now.

368 or so normally, but after about 70-100 miles on the freeway, adding the remaining with miles traveled, it goes up to about 392. Someone posted that resetting the MPG prior to fillup helps bringing it closer to it's accuracy.

On a side note, I had 110 miles remaining filling up at 1/4 tank remaining. Pumped about 14.8 gallons drove for the next 2-3 miles and still showed 110. I checked again 20 miles or so, and it gone up to the 360ish.

yeah...

i've been recording how many gallons i fill up and the date plus the current mileage.

but its so weird seeing such a high number when im used to seeing a lower number.

Sorry JoJoBetsy, I didn't pay attention to the thread title for V8 owners. I have a V6 4WD.

I guess it's time to delete "detailed oriented" from my resume. :

Ha Ha! One nice thing about the weak v6 is that mine says 424 when I fill 'er up. I typically drive for about 375, but I can stretch over 400 if I do all highway driving.
Sorry, had to get my .02 in to brag up my v6, the only thing to brag up v6's.
