My son installed a new Pioneer in dash cd player a few months ago in his '97 4Runner and everything worked fine. Today he installed four new speakers in the original locations. The stereo worked fine with three new speakers wired up, but after replacing the last original speaker, no sound at all. The stereo lights up and everything, but no sound. Any ideas?

I would almost bet your speakers are out of phase
There should be a "+" and a "-" on each speaker
Lets say the two colors on your speaker wires are yellow and black
You just need to make sure the same color wire thats on the back of your receiver on the "+" side goes to the "+" side on -each- speaker
again, in my example - let's say the yellow wire is on the "+" side ... in turn, that means the black wire should be attached to the "-" part of the back side of your receiver, and the "-" side of -each- of the speakers
when you have a "+" from the radio go to a "-" side of the speaker - things are out of phase and it will have a direct effect on sound quality
Double check your wires and I would almost bet, that will fix it

It's probably not that, speakers out of phase will still play, they'll just sound terrible. What your issue is probably a grounded speaker. If he unplugs the last speaker do they play again? It could be a bad voice coil on the speaker, grounding the system. Check the mounting as well, if the terminals are touching metal inside the door, that will ground the system too
