truck bogs down after deep water?

so i had my 91 4runner sr5 4wd 5 speed in 4wd. i went in some deep water and when i came out i took it out of 4wd and it kept stalling. i let it dried off a bit and when i drove off it had almost no power at first. then it began to sound funny when i started off and in 2nd gear. still little power but more then it had. i let it sit a little longer and it was just ok. once i got home it was fine. drives normal. no power loss. any ideas guys? im thinking something got wet and once it dried it was okay. im just curious as to what got wet to make it do this. any suggestions?

Ignition system and alt are the most likely culprit.
BTW, it's a truck not a boat.

So not a 4runner, but I got in some deep water in my FJ40 with a small block Chevy and had the same problem. I found a small amount of water in my distributer cap. Dried it out and it ran fine afterwards.

keep in mind the water becomes a ground when you submerge the bottom of the block, if your grounds are not good it will split the current to the water and that causes power spikes
