Truck jerks forward at stop?

my truck does it also, but not since new. it seemed to start up out of nowhere and it bothers me..... at night do your headlights dim/brighten w/ the rpm fluctuation? And my truck only does it until its warmed up....

I've noticed it a couple of times, but its not much of a difference so I didn't bother with it.

Axel rap is very common to most late model Toyota trucks. Greasing the suspension seems to minimize the problem.

is it just me or is there ALOT the "dealer just doesnt know" about?? I hate the D@m dealers.
i had this issue alot too with my 07 sr5, and like some others have said, getting the drive line greased DOES help, but is not a permanent fix. If anyone finds a perm, lemme kno!

How fast is your AC cycling?

I bought my 07 V8 this Winter and love it! Now that it is getting warmer, I've noticed the AC cycling and giving the truck a little more forward pull when stopped at a light. Judging from this thread, that must be normal. But, I was wondering how often your AC is cycling. Mine seems to kick in for about six seconds and then cut back out for about a 10 count before repeating. Is that normal?

I bought my 07 4Runner V6 a few months ago from a Toyota dealer and absolutely love it. It is the third 4Runner I've owned; however, there is a first for this one: I've been experiencing the "forward jerk" when I release the brake after a hard stop. After reading various threads about this issue, I told the dealer about it and asked them to check out/grease the drive shaft when I took the truck in for an oil change. Of course they were clueless and said that I could pay $200 for a transmission flush "to see if it will fix the problem" otherwise I would need a new transmission. WTF? I do not believe them for one bit. I am going to get a second opinion.

You don't need a new transmission, it's just the 4Runner "driveline clunk". It's something that pretty much every 4th gen 4Runner experiences, and other than either keeping your driveline well lubed or switching to a GX470 driveshaft, it's basically just something we all live with. It bugs me, but it's by no means a deal breaker and it definitely doesn't mean the transmission is going bad.

My advice would be to go leave an upper-decker in the bathroom at that dealership.

I like it, its one of those things that require routine maintenance and for sure you get a real improvement for a job well done !

....and that sucker takes lots of pumps if it has not been properly maintained


I am still amazed at how many of you guys negotiate and rely on this dealer "expertise" unless your a dealer insider or closely associated with one...those guys are there to make little old ladies and guys in ties feel better.... Park in your garage get some jack stands and get your hands dirty!

Good to know! I did not think for a second that these service people know what they're talking about. The truck drives perfectly fine other than the "clunk", so I'll get used to it.

I'll heed your suggestion and head to the dealership this weekend. lol
