truck ran like sh@t just now :(

just went to pick up my friend at stockton which is 65 miles away on the way over there the truck ran fine but on the way back it starts to run really rough, check the ultragauge and it came up po300 po301 po302 po303 so looks like cyl 1,2,3 were miss firing, but i just did the plugs like 2 month ago with ngk, and the wires are only a year old(authozone wires tho) and the coil packs are stock, it was super violent shakes on acceleration, almost feels like the truck is gonna fall apart, gets worse going up hill. cant figur out the problem, coolant and oil seems find and the drive train is also fine.

it was really bad dude feels like the truck is gonna die on the freeway, and the exhaust really sounds bad, its mis firing like crazy, drove home with 3cly pretty much had very little power

Usually when those codes come up like that it can also be the o2 sensor because it has something to do with the A/F Ratio.

Have you cleaned the maf lately?

A/F was changed maf was also changed and cleaned

Bad Gas? did you fill up at a different station to or fro?

Sorry, trying to do the process of elimination here. especially if you replaced the parts you mentioned.

Hmm, I am sure someone will post in the morning what they think it may be. Have you tried swapping the coils to see if she idles differently?

Not sure about 3 misfiring, but plug wires will do that. If one goes bad it will run like crap. I can't see the truck running at all with 3 not working. A quick possible solution would be to get some stock NGK or denso plug wires and see if that does the job, these 4runners are finicky about that.

If that doesn't help, I would try to isolate which cylinders are giving the issue. Start by idling if it will without shutting off, and disconnect the plug wires one at a time. If disconnecting 1 of them doesn't effect it, there is a problem with that cylinder or spark plug, whatever.

If 3 actually are misfiring, I can't see it being wires or plugs, something more along the lines of what others have mentioned like bad gas or something that can effect them all.

To me it sounds like it has to be a sensor issue.

My first guesses would be:

MAF, O2 sensor

Beyond that, I would double check your fuel filter, Throttle body and IAC.

Since the cylinders aren't related, it doesn't sound like a timing issue.

Multiple misfire like that has to be upstream/downstream from the motor.

I also vote on a sensor issue. You could yank the plugs and take a look just to rule out anything there.

You have a 1998, so you have an EGR right?

A co-worker has the same codes and symptoms as you with his Integra. On those B series engines apparently the EGR is commonly the culprit.. Just an idea.

Or plugs? If you had misfire on 1,2,5, that would mean every coil pack is bad.

Also check the ignitor.

changed the wire code is only p0302 now, gonna pull the plugs tomorrow and do a smoke test for vacuum leak, cly 2 is one the coil pack sode so its that one is bad then #5 should also be bad but its not, hopefully its just a bad plug

There has to be an underlying reason why your rig may have fouled a wire and now possibly a plug after 2 months of driving since change. My guess would be fuel/air mixture is screwy. Either that or you had some nasty water in your gas, i had that happen to my tahoe and the whole entire truck shook like it was in an earthquake. Fouled 2 plugs and a wire. Replaced them and it never happened again for 2 years. Just a thought.

you may have something there, i got a whole new tank of gas before i headed out. im gonna try to run the gas off and see if it does better with some better gas

I realize that. No competition here, i just wanted to make sure the OP didnt just think it was just a random occurrence that his truck fouled them. Just looking out for the owner here!
