Truck was towed away. Got it back, now VSC/traction lights are on

I missed the street cleaning sign and truck was towed away. $200 and several hours later, I got it back and drive off from the tow yard. Within a few minutes, the VSC Off and skidding truck (traction?) lights are on.

NO CEL. NO ABS warning.

I pulled off, turned it off, then turned it back on. Same thing, within a few miles of driving, the warnings lights come on.

Put it in 4WD. Same thing.

I also notice my steering is off center a bit.

Going to take it into Toyota in the morning, but anyone have any guesses or ideas?

Is it a V6 or V8?

If its a V8 it has to be towed on a flatbed, the towing company could have caused damage to the vehicle otherwise, if it was a V6 it could still have been damaged if it was left in 4Hi.

I would have the DTCs pulled from the vehicle to determine what the towing company damaged. I don't know what the laws are in your areas but I recall hearing that in some cases even if the towing company damages the vehicle, the owner is liable for the damages if it was towed due to legal reasons (i.e. in your case the street sweeper.)

I will note that seems a bit harsh, typically you get ticketed for that before they tow you...

Hopefully its just a wire that may have got stretched or cut. Look all around the rear axle. Hopefully they didn't strap the 4runner down using the tie rods for anchor points.

Another reason I'm glad I don't live in the city anymore.

that happened to me too. same place in Boston when I missed the signs. they towed it and i noticed that the steering wheel is off center a bit. I was in 2 wheel drive then but did not get that VSC lights. where you in 4H?

Maybe need to do a zero point calibration. ? But I'd get the code pulled ASAP
