True Flow air filter

just got my true flow air filter in the mail. i was gonna go for a trd filter, but once i saw the video and read the reviews i decided on the true flow.

remove filter from box

remove engine cover over the filter box(gx470) and unclip the (4) tabs on the box
remove filter

eh, i guess it's still good. no need to throw it away

install true flow filter foam side down

close it all up and put the cover back on. not sure if this is needed for our cars, but with honda's i would disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reset the ECU. i did it anyways.

went for a test drive and the first thing i noticed was the acceleration. there is a definite increase in power.
best $40.00 i've spent.

I just installed a Trueflow air filter on my 06' SE 4X4 V8 today. I must say that there really is a difference in performance! My baby just seems to breath a little better than before. I also changed out ALL fluids today to SYNTHETIC:D.....now I have good ol' Mobil 1 in my front/rear diffs, transfer case, and engine (along with a Mobil 1 synthetic filter). I just turned 500 miles and decided to get the good stuff put in early. So, after adding the Trueflow, synthetic throughout, and a fresh tank of premium gas, my baby purrrrrrrrs like a kitty :p BTW, props to Jason at BurtmanIndustries for the quick delivery of my Trueflow. I spoke to him on the phone and watched the video. We both agree that there is no other air filter on the market currently that matches the performance and filter ability of the Trueflow. It was well worth $40. Thanks Jason!!

No, unfortuntely I dont think Trueflow has a filter for the V6 yet. YOu may want to call Jason at BurtmanIndustries and ask him. But, I dont think its available for the V6. I must say that I really can tell a difference in performance. Take a look at the video if you havent seen it. Its really awesome as the Trueflow out performs the other filters. :D
 
I just put the True Flow in my V8 this morning. So far, just driving around town running errand for a few miles, I don't think I feel a difference. I'll be on the freeways later this weekend...we'll see if I feel any differences there.

Curtis, after putting mine in yesterday, I could feel a difference in higher speeds. It seems to breath better in the higher rpm range and cruising speeds. That is were I feel the biggest difference. Either way, I am just thankful that i am getting superior filtration and keeping dirt out of my engine. Great $40 investment in my book:D
 
Heh curtis!!!! Some people said they disconnect their battery terminal first to reset the ecu then felt the difference.

Wanted to let everyone know that I have about 10 of these filters left. It's one of the best air filters for the 4th gen V8. True flow went out of business and I bought their remaining stock of filters. This is a lifetime filter, and never needs to be changed. You will notice a bump in gas mileage and more power.
 
Trueflow out of business? I wonder if itll be hard to get those cleaning kit, havent cleaned the filter on my xdi.
 
whats the deal with the lack of foam filters for the v6? I had an amsoil in my 98 and loved it. I went with the K&N for the 06 since I couldn't find a foam filter. Jason, any ideas why they haven't created one for the v6?

what are your thoughts? the numbers claim its better than the wet-gauze style of the K&N...
 
I wanted to save me some $$ and DIY ....and just got yesterday a K&N filter ordered a few days ago I got a $20 discount on the order... so I took advantage of the offer.
I didn't get a chance to read this thread before I ordered it. So..should I return it and get something else or just have the dealer change it and put an OEM.????..
 
JAC, the K&N is definitely better than the OEM filter as it allows for better airflow. However, the foam filter is the best because it stops the most dirt. So, i would say keep the K&N for now, until we find a place that has the foam filters for the v6, that's my plan!
 
I've sold over 100 of these over the past years for the V8 4Runner and GX470m same filter. If you drive the same after you install, you will only gain. If you dropped, it may have been due to winter oxygented gas. I hate that stuff here in PA, when they change over to it, I drop mileage instantly.
