True Flow Air Intake

I'm looking to get an intake in the near future and am shopping around for a good one. I came accross the true flow air intake on burtmanindustries.com. In the description it says

"What makes this intake different than most? It's designed with "Inverted Air Flow" technology, which reverses the direction of air flow through the filter and canister offering a lower rate for restriction. So low in fact, it's less restrictive then no canister or air box at all. True flow engineers managed this by giving the air direction. Because of this design, True Flow is able to locate the canister in just about any location and direction. "

Anyone know anything about this or have it on their T4R? Input good or bad, on other intakes would be appreciated as well.

I am looking for something that will free up some hp, have good sound, and hopefully increase mpg.

I've got the intake kit with the filter. To be honest with you I cant tell any performance gains from stock, but the intake noise is substantially louder. It growls at anything over 3500 RPMS now, which I enjoy. I've seen no increase in MPG as well (wasnt expecting any when i purchased it). I've also got the intake elbow removed but chose not to do the deckplate.
It's a solid setup, although i did have to trim the plastic surround on the filter element itself to fit inside the airbox on my '02. As far as fit and finish goes, other than the element, everything is included and it's high quality.
All that being said I found a brand new setup for $99. I would not have purchased it had I needed to pay $200+ for it. Dont purchase it if youre looking for any real kind of gain in the HP or TQ dept or are seeking higher MPG.

Do you have any pics of your setup??? Where did you find it for $99?? Did it fall off the back of a truck somewhere?
 
I actually found it on ebay, new in the box, in an auction that ended at something like 2am. I got lucky and was the only one to put a bid on it.

I'll snap some pics of it tomorrow...already dark here for the night.

My apologies for the engine bay not being cleaner. I havent had a chance to do my regular spring cleaning yet, so all the salt, sand, and dirt from winter is still lingering in the engine bay!

I think he is looking for someone with a 4th Gen who has installed the XDI Intake, it's a bit different on the 3rd Gens
 
I just installed the trueflow xdi on my 07 4r sport v6 and it is pretty sweet. I love the sound it puts out. i have noticed some gains mostly in the mpgs I was getting 18 to 19 and now I am getting almost 23, i was even suprised with that number because my foot has been in it since i installed it . the only thing wrong with it was the price, everwhere i looked it was 350 up to 390. i bought it from autopartswharehouse.com for 284 though.. but it took me ordering it twice to get the right one. make sure you get the part number 40703

no other upgrades it is all stock, except the intake and I put on 265/70r16 toyo open country at's on it about a mounth ago. i plan on doing an exhuast not sure which one yet. When I put it on I wasnt really looking for better mpgs just a little more power, but most of all a way better sound... I was going to put the K&N series 77 on but I saw a video on youtube of a fj and a tundra with the trueflow intake and loved the way it sounded

the intake looks croocked, did u happen to use the ac bracket bolt hole? i used the closed hole above the ac bracket, and made a hole to secure the intake to it, so it will look straight , ill post pic of mines after i have some time, but its straight up. also i havr custom 3 inch exhaust with cherrybomb vortex muffler, everything after the flange from the cat , i used 3 inch pipes. its loud and nice sounding.
 
yeah its a little crooked i just lined up the holes that it was close to cause i didnt understand what they were talking about on the ac bracket. if you could get a pic of what you did i would appreciate it. How much did the exhaust help. give a noticiable amount of power and torq. or is it just loud thanks for the help Jay
 
i got power and sound from it, and gained about 2-4mpg more, i know that cherrybomb vortex is loud, and they sound nice on the 4.0, when u look above that lil ac bracket, u should see a hole that is kinda pluged up with paint, all u do is that the screw from the orignal ac bracket and tap that hole so the paint is gone, then u reinstall the screw to the ac bracket and leave it as is like stock, then u take the true flow rubber thingy and put it in the new hole u tapped and it it should make the intake all lined up.
