True Flow and Cat back exhaust

So everyone seems to be to be praising this True Air Foam filter....to my dismay they do not make one for the 4.0 V6 for my 06 SE. :(

Does anyone know if they will ever make one?

Also...I visited true flows website and they make a sealed air intake system...would this work for my v6? anyone ever try it?

also...what exactly is a cat back exhaust system?

What would be the best one out? how much money usualy? I'm not looking for a super loud annoying sound...just something nice...maybe a little beefy...or something that sounds stock. My 97 sr5 was so loud and annoying becuase I put on an exhaust and that was back then...I've sense grown to like the slick clean sound of stock...heh...if that makes sense.

I emailed trueflow and they said they have no products for the 4Runner at the momement but to check back fequently (Standard email response)

A "Catback system" is an exhaust system starting from behind the catalytic converter. Some notable ones made specifically for our 4Runners (direct bolt on with no modifications) are from Gibson, Magnaflow, TRD and Borla. I think the TRD is just a rebranded Borla... They range from 400-900.

I've seen the Gibson go for around $350, Magnaflow for about $400 and the Borla one for about $600. The TRD one is going for the most ... Loudness is subjective to each person so you may need to hear before you decide.

Anyone have a sound clip of a borla or a trd cat back exhaust system? I am trying to save some money for it, but wonder how it sound. If it's too loud or not. :help:

Run a search on exhaust sound, there was one posted here somewhere!

I am their Manufacturers Rep, so the next time I talk to Jason (National sales manager), I will ask to see if they have anything going. I have the closed intake, and it rocks! Not too much noise, and it doesn't suck in any HOT air. It keeps the factory airbox, but replaces everything else. It is the only itake that is Dyno Proven to give you a constant HP increase, no matter in Hot, Cold, or Slow traffic.

How come the website doesn't list an intake kit and only a drop in for the 4Runners or am I just blind and missed it???

Ok, so far, they only make an intake kit for the 96-02 3.4L. They are in the process of making one for the 4.7L 03-05 Runners, but it will be a while until its finished and out. The filter #s for all 4Runners are as follows:
03-05 4.7L Filter - 40201
96-02 3.4L Filter - 40200
96-02 3.4L Intake - 40500
96-01 2.7L Filter - 40202
90-95 2.4L Filter - 40202
So far, those are all they have, but like I said, they are in the process of making one, but you know how long it takes companies to get something made, and DOT certified....

I ordered the Borla dual catback system for my 06 Sport Edition V8 last week and it finally arrived today (1-13-06). My home computer went down temporarily, but when it's back up I'll load some pictures of the system before, during, and after install. It looks very high quality (all stainless) and should fit just like X6RUNNER's system. Also came with a drop in air filter. Got it from Courtesy Toyota in Florida and they shipped it to me in California. Got it for $679 + shipping. Can you believe Borla is charging $1020 for the same kit on their website (PN 140146)? Ridiculous.

Damn! I'm about to PM you regarding the Borla drop-in air filter. I was at Courtesy Toyota this evening to pick up some wiper blades, while other guy is paying for his TRD Drop-in filter (exactly the same as Borla). The filter alone is $74 Dollars plus tax @ Courtesy Toyota. That's when I remember, you supposed to have one included in your exhaust kit. It's a very hight quality aftermarket air filter I've seen.
