True Flow vs K&N Air filter

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm in the market for an air filter.

I have heard very good things about both.

K&N is like $10 more expensive.

Can I get a few opinions before I go ahead and buy the true flow?

I saw an air filter online called green filters. They don't list a performance gain chart but for some reason the filter is over $100.00. I'm thinking about switching over to the true flow filter from my K&N.

Performance-wise its not going to matter, they'll both flow enough air to eliminate any filter related air restriction.

I've heard the True Flow may filter a little better, but thats not going to make me trash my K&N and buy a new True Flow.

Go with whatever is cheaper, and pray to god :bowdown: that sometime in our lifetime some company somewhere in a crazy scheme to make a profit will develop a CAI for the VVT-i V8!!:dammit:

How about a Trueflow cone filter to replace K&N filter on FIPK. Anyone heard of this?

Save your money. Either will be noticable.

I have a filter from AFE (the same company that makes the TRD air filters). Seems similar to K&N in that it has an oiled element. I can't comment on any power increases, as I installed it along with my Borla catback exhaust system. Looks like a good quality filter, though.

panel filters arent going to increase power anything enought to notice.

maybe 5hp at most. Its the surface area and velocity that is killing the performance increase out of them.

I have mine in for slightly better mileage and a crisper throttle.

I use a K&N filter. I can't say whether or not I am getting better mileage as the truck only has 2k on it. Mileage is still improving the more I drive. I do notice a *slightly* crisper throttle. But not enough really to mention it and say Hey! WOW! Feel the added horsepower! I can kill a 'vette now!

All in all, I think the only real gain you may get here is cost savings over the life of the filter vs. changing out the paper elements from Toyota. IMO, they make a pretty good filter and swapping in an aftermarket one solely for horsepower gains alone is a waste of money.
