Trying to price OEM shocks

Does anyone have a link that will allow me to see the price for new Toyota rear shocks for a 2001 4wd. I have played around with numerous links that all come back with nothing found. I also found several on linedelaers that want an email to give a price.

Why in the world would you want OEM rear shocks? They are terrible and seriously compromise handling (rear wheels chatter in bumpy turns and the tail comes around).

I replaced the shocks on my '98 'Runner with Bilstein Sport shocks and was very pleased with the vast improvement in handling. It's amazing how much better the truck felt with its rear wheels on the ground all the time. They do, however, firm up the ride a tad.

As good as Toyotas are, somehow Japanese engineers seem not to have really figured out shock valving. Do a search on "shock absorbers" for other suggestions if Bilsteins don't appeal.

I think the '99 shocks mght be stiffer as I replaced mine with new coils and mine handles pretty good and maintains the decent for a 4Runner stock ride. I had HD Billies on my '97 and it did keep the truck more level when cornering but it was a stiff ride but great off road.

not to thread steal...but i have KYB monomax shocks and i love them. great ride. i would agree that OEM shocks on the 4R are not very good.

It's not so much that I'm looking for OEM as I am wondering what they cost. I am looking more at the Monroe or Bilstein.

The OEM versions are actually Tokico shocks and they aren't as bad as most claim but they definetly aren't the Bilstiens but they also don't cost what the Billies do.
I've had mine off road and yes,I could use a little more clearence which I could just order PP coils which work fine with the OEM shocks.

The Bils are harsh over bumps and road imperfections at highway speeds while the OEM versions hide the rough stuff a bit but with Bils the rear stays put better.

HD billies are really not as harsh as most people think.

i think softer shocks on a truck like the 4runner make it feel floaty.
