Trying to yield some answers

Alright, I posted this on yotatech and didn't really get anywhere.

So i have been contemplating a lift for a little while. Tonight when my wife and I were in the car she sarcasticly asked me "does your car have shocks?". So I have since been thinking about upgrading my shocks.
First and foremost, let me say that I know about as much about lifts as I do about underwater basket weaving. That being said, I have a few questions. One; I am wanting to upgrade my shocks to improve the stock ride, what is my best option? Two; Does the type of shock affect the ride hight? Three; I would like to add a few inches of lift without spending the $1000 for the SS 7.1. This is my daily driver and will be ocaisionally taking it off road on light trails. I would like to improve the stock ride with adding a few inches, 3 at the most. Is this possible without spending an arm and a leg? Also, the tires are brand new michelin LTX's, the same size as stock, and I'm not looking at replacing them any time soon. Eventually I would like to go to some Nitto Terra Grapplers but that wont be until these wear out.

I will not answer the first question. lol i just dont know the answer im running stock.

Two: Yes, you can get longer shocks/springs that give you a lift. They are normally adjustable so that you can make it be a one inch lift, up to whatever its max height is. So you can get one kit, and it can give you anywhere from a small lift, up to a lot. This is a TRUE suspension lift, correct me if I'm wrong here, people. Best way to go, typically.

Three: Looking at about 500-1000. This is what I have personally seen. If you part together a lift, you MAY be able to get down closer to 5 or 6 hundred.

Anything more than an inch or two of lift, your tires are gonna look funny. IMHO.

Its hard for someone to offer their opinion on whats best for you. I know you don't want to spend that much but don't get a spacer lift, its not worth it. The coil overs that 4rnr4me is recommending are normally just as pricey as the Sonoran Steel kits that you don't want to pay for. Coilovers are comfortable rides (from what I here) but are best for high speed off roading or jumping. If neither of these sound good then just get a OME lift. I must say that the OMEs are not designed to lift, but are designed to hold more weight. Thus they more stiff. A LOT of people think the stiffness is good and are very happy with their ome lifts. If you are afraid of the stiffness, well it comes with the territory. If you are so afraid that the OMEs are going to be too stiff..... well your back to looking at either the Sonoran Steel 1 or pay just as much as the SS1 and get coilovers.

does the OME lift at Slee offer everything I will need to do the complete install? Will I need a diff drop or anything?

I'm pretty sure you only need to drop your diff if you go to 3" or more of lift...it comes with everything you need and its a pretty easy install, just takes time...

When your dropping $700+ on a lift kit, you might as well spend the extra $40 bucks and get a diff drop kit from toyteclifts.com. Its better to be safe than sorry. A $40 diff is cheaper than new CVs. My .02

Also it seems Rocky Road may have a better price than Slee. Although, their shipping price in the shopping cart is not the actual shipping price. Click on the US map for their actual shipping prices. I don't know which would be cheaper with shipping and handling included, just throwing this out there.
