I have been reading these threads with great interest as I have both of these issues as well as the faulty driveshaft issue that causes the dreaded thud after a stop.
Can anyone post TSB 034-09 as there seems to be, as I understand it, conflicting information circulating. I have the excessive sulphur odor as well as the cracked exhaust manifold tick noise. I have been able to read, the now superseaded TSB EG005-06 that seems to state Toyota, under that bulletin, will only replace both cats. That the cats on the V8 can be seperated away from the exhaust manifolds to perform this, yet I have read here that the cats are part of the exhaust manifolds and must be replaced under TSB 0342-09. I have also read that members here have experienced both the replacement of the defective cats and exhaust manifolds and replacement of cats only and if the manifolds are cracked the customer must pay out of pocket. Am I missing something.......again, my understanding on the manifolds is that they should be covered under the factory emissions warranty that is in place for 96 months or 80,000 miles whichever comes first.
Can anyone confirm if my info is correct or not as I have an appointment in about a week or so to drop mine at the dealer for this.
Additionally, does anyone know about any forward progress by Toyota to issue a TSB on the driveline thud that has been identified to be the rear drive shaft assembly AKA Lexus TSB? Thanks.
