TSB for 03-05 V6 Alternator

TSB # EL006-05 (Revised 12/21/06) has been issued to address a problem where road salt can cause the alternator to fail, resulting in a "no charge" condition and a charging system malfunction indicator light.

This applies to 03-05 V6's.

As with any TSB, the work will only be done if your truck is demonstrating the problem. (This isn't a recall.) Also, it's free only if you're still covered by the 3/36 bumper-to-bumper warranty.

I don't have an alt. light issue but I'm in road salt territory and out of warranty. The content of the TSB points to a potential issue. Besides changing the alternator it looks like they are trying to diminish road spray issues under the cover. Time to pop the hood and take a look. Maybe there is something preventative I can do.
