TSB on 2004 driver seat being loose??

I don't know about a TSB, but Toyota Canada did ok the replacement of the drivers seat assembly for my 2004 SR5. About 3 weeks later, it appears the same. There is 'play' in the lower cushion, seems to be slack in the gear mechanisms that raise and lower the front and rear parts of the seat.

Would taking electical tape and going around the gear with it, say in the grooves until it gets a little thicker, would this change the slack?

Come on, you got rid of your 4runner because the drivers seat bottom creaked??? I know that this can be fixed if it gets worse. I'm not giving up my 4runner over a loose seat? Ok now anyone that had this problem, how did they fix it? Just like to know so I can give the dealer direction. It alway helps

If you don't mind paying over 30k for a truck with a loose seat then enjoy the ride. Mine was an '03 and the '04's do it as well so you see Toyota does not give a crap about it, they say its NORMAL OPERATION

I have to agree with Vin... Until your seat feels like a rollercoaster, you can't understand the frustration. Plus, with Toyota support always saying that the swivel is "Normal" ... That's a bunch of BS!
And ride those guys hard. The California State Dispute Board as well as the California Hwy Patrol agreed with me that these seats SHOULD NOT have the excess movement that these seats do.
I don't mean the little circle twisty thing under your legs... I mean the lunging back and forth that the seats will eventually do. (If you actually drive your vehicle.)
Best of luck with your seat, and like Vin stated, make sure that you have the same problem listed on ALL invoices, or your sunk.

You had the seat replaced. Was this because of the front cushion movement or was the whole seat bottom moving? Is the problem solved?

The dealer had the vehicle the entire day and replaced the seat assembly as recommended by Toyota Canada. The dealer received the seat frame and had to remove and re-install the upholstery. It seemed ok for a few weeks, but there is play again. I lowered the seat to the lowest position, but still play. It seems the gear are large and the slack in the teeth is causing the slackness or play. I think electric seats are the answer, due to the gearing, but don't expect Toyota to replace my manual seat.
Dealer told me he would keep an eye out for TSB's on the issue.
I think we need to push Toyota Canada for a solution. The vehicle is well made, except for the seat and electrical plug for the trailer.

Nothing specifically with the plug, except that it is located about 18" to 2 feet from the hitch mount, therefore requiring an extra long electrical cord when making right hand turns, with a result that left hand turns will drag the power cable on the ground. I made a short extension cable to resolve this.
I went out and checked my seat and sure enough, there is play. Depending on how you adjusted the thigh pad/level, things would get worst or make more noise. It doesn't seem to the same level as some are experiencing. Clearly is a design issue. By my assessment, i won't get far with this one with my dealers, so will sit on it for now, unless/untill it gets worse.
Worse part is i'm about to install leather seat covers, and would really hate to run into this problem at a later date after the covers are on.

another option is to run the cord up the main trailer hitch arm and secure it just before the ball mount point with zip ties underneath. and then zip tie from the connector to the hitch point on the truck and leave some play between the vehicle and trailer hitch point. this would give you the least amount of slack since your moving the pivot point to the hitch point instead of the normal connection procedure of where it kinda hangs from the vehicle connector to the trailer.
hope that explains it in words and gives a decent picture of what i am trying to say.
