Welcome to a thread about my '90 4runner. She's got a 22re & a manual transmission...which is how we ended up in this situation.
See the folks who owned her previously taught their son how to drive a stick in her & I ended up leaving her in the woods for this winter past. At any rate, I managed a clutch swap in the field & figured I was ready to get her back on the road today.
So I installed the new Interstate battery, tested the replacement keys (don't ask) in the door & ignition. Ignition? Nada. No click. No nada. Nada de nada. The clutch felt soft so I thought that maybe the safety clutch ignition thingy wasn't releasing, but there are two lingering concerns from the swap that may be the issue as well.
The first concern is that there is a four wire harness, (colors are black, brown, flesh & black & a fourth I couldn't make out), that seems to want to run the entire length of the transmission toward the block. It ran up over the starter & disappeared into a larger corrugated channel of wires.
The second is a pair of wires that emerges from the transmission up by the shifter mechanisms & also runs toward block. This has a white clip harness and I believe that I hay have removed the inserts from the transmission side of the clip because they don't seem to want to stay in the clip anymore. I also don't know if I am putting these wires in the right sides, but there are only two options so that should be reasonably deduced.
I am hoping that along with the attached photos that somebody out there might be able to help me identify my problems & could guide me to some resolutions.
