Tundra Brake Swap Question

I've read and searched. I get the difference between the WE @ 199 and WL @ 231 size and that the bigger will require trimming of the dust shield and that the smaller are a bolt on upgrade.

I'm about to do it but here is my quesiton - has anyone tried using the dust shield from the Tundra? Will it bolt up and fit to avoid any triming needed?

I'm about to head to the local toy-wrecker yard. Called the other day and was told the calipers will be $40 give or take. I'm guessing the dust shields will be cheap. I tried to look it up online and it looked like the "backing plate" is $40 new so guessing $15 ea at the yard.

I just did the 231's on mine last week. Great upgrade.
Why waste the money and time to change the backing plates if yours are good? You have to pull the hub off to change it. It is real easy to trim a little off the top and bottom with tin snips.

^^x2..or better yet use an angle grinder and clean up the sharp edges of the trimmed portion at the same time.

Easier than having to un-necessary take everything apart when only a small part of the shield gets in the way.

Ok, went to the yard today. Yes, I see the difference now and how it's all bolted on inboard of the hub. Makes sense to me now. Trimming is the way to go...
