Tundra Brake Upgrade questions.....

I know this topic has been covered multiple times, and yes, I did do a search before posting and couldn't find the information I was looking for. So here comes the question....

I am looking to do a lift in the near future, which will require new tires. At some point in the distance future i'd like to do the tundra brake upgrade, which means I should get wheels, now, that would work for the upgrade, since i will be getting tires and all done. Anyways, I've been looking around on Craigslist, found these, Toyota 4 runner rims , can anyone confirm or deny if they will work? Thanks!

Hey Dave. Ask him what size they are. I know the newer vehicle are upping the wheel size so they may be 17 or 18" wheels. If so they will clear for sure. As for if they are 16, which I doubt they are. They may fit. But if that's the case just pick up some wheel spacers. I've fit 15" wheels with backs pacing and wheel spacers before.

I put 17" 2014 FJ/4Runner wheels on mine and there were no problems. I think once you jump into the later generation take-off's you shouldn't have a problem as all the brakes from that point on have been enlarged.

From what I remember the offset has a bit to do with it too since the caliper is wider and extends farther off the rotor towards the hub than stock. I know there's a few people running those tires, I just don't know the specs. I think those were early 5th gen SR5 wheels

His AD says 2010 4runner wheels, I guess that's 5th gen? I haven't kept up with the newer gens too much. So you say you've seen some folks running these with the brake upgrade?

I don't know if they've had the upgrade, I've seen a few threads around here with them on 3rd gens... Sorry for misleading.

I went ahead and picked them up. Gonna have a friend help me powder coat them. It'll end up being a good while before I have the chance to actually do the brake upgrade....

Maybe someone will stumble across this thread before then and be able to give me a positive one way or the other.
