Purchased brand new calipers, rotors and pads for the 199mm Tundra brake upgrade for my '00 SR5 with 16" rims. Took everything to my mechanic, and after an hour he told me it wasn't going to work. He showed me, and the inside of the caliper was touching the rotor directly. Any thoughts? Did they just ship me the wrong parts, or is there something else at play here. I'm no mechanic, so laymen terms please.

The only thing I can think of is you have 199MM calipers and 231MM rotors.

You may have got the wrong part number. Not sure of what the thickness difference is between 231 rotors and 199 rotors, but maybe you got 231 rotors and they're now trying to be pressed into 199 calipers.
Something isn't right with the parts, too many people have done this other no issues.
Also, you should really attempt to DIY.

First I've ever read this. My 199s fit fine. Either you got the wrong part or a bad part. Where did you get the parts? What are the part #'s and brand?

Rotors are the same between the 199 and 231 calipers.

He does know to cut out a piece of the dust/backing plate correct?

This is an easy DIY project with a jack stand, couple of larger mm sockets and tin snips. But seeing it's already at the shop it might be too late for that.
Print out the first few pages of the TBU thread that BigFishAllDay put together where it shows how to install it. I bet something was missed along the way or it's the wrong part (maybe they are stock 4Runner rotors?).
