Tundra Brakes for '02 T4R

I hope this hasn't been beaten to death. I've read several scraps of info here and there and would like to know for sure which components I'd need from which year Tundra to replace rotors and calipers on my 02 T4R. How much of a job is it ?? I have one warped rotor that's driving me nuts and want to fix it once - properly. Thanks.

I got mine from an 06 Tundra with the 13WL casting.

These are 231mm and will require AT LEAST a 17" wheel

The other option is going with an older Tundra(00/01/02), the 199mm calipers, which fit snugly under a set of 16" wheels

OK, thanks. I see that a wrecker near me has a set of 199mm and calipers for an 01 Tundra available. Just a few months ago I bought a nice set of 16" alloy wheels and new tires and don't want to throw them away. How much of a job is it, aside from bleeding brakes when done ?? Are the rotors separate from the hub or will I need to change bearings, too ??

no way man! too easy to even be called a mod haha

unbolt calipers, slide off rotors, replace with new rotors, replace calipers with bigger units, swap over the brake lines, new pads for the tundra, bleed brakes, done!

its just the same as replacing everyhting only you're using them from a different truck

I think this mod is going to be my Christmas present to myself this year. Now I just need new wheels, tires, etc etc....

Thanks, but I almost wish I hadn't read that. It says the 199mm Tundra rotor is susceptible to warpage as well, but that the 231mm will fit stock 16" wheels with "a little trimming." I have no way of knowing how my after market 16" rims compare with the stock rim in that area.

I'm well aware of Murphy's Law in projects like this. My inclination is to go ahead and get the 231mm setup and Make It Fit. Then again, that just might not work......and with my luck.....?? Any thoughts ?? LINY4Runner ??

personally I would NEVER do that, thats why I went with the Sequoia wheels

Only the old split 6 spokes require grinding from what i've read, both of the new 16" 5 spoke designs clear without any modifications

I think I'm sunk. Looked at the pic of where they trimmed the stock wheel, then went out and looked at mine. I have the 16" Pacer wheels and they're smooth and heavy where the picture shows the stock wheel being trimmed. Also, there's only about 1/8" clearance between the inside of the wheel and the stock caliper. The Tundra caliper looks much wider in the pictures.

FWIW......the wheels I have look like the Pacer #204434311. If so, they have an offset of -8mm and back spacing of 3.63. I've emailed Pacer to find out for sure and explained my problem. Does this help any ??

What other options do I have ?? Are the cryo treated rotors any good ??
