Tundra for A Day

I had to bring my 4Runner in for service on Thursday and my dealer gave me a 2007 Tundra 5.7L crew cab for a loaner. My first impression before I went into to drive was wow, this thing is huge. It was really long and tall. Once I got into the drivers seat, it was very comfortable and roomy. The controls for the radio were very straight forward but I found the climate control even more confusing than the 4Runner. There were a lot of dials to play with because this one was not equipped with auto climate control. Once I started driving, I was in glory! The noise from the 5.7L was music to my ears and the power was beyond belief. Every time I pushed the accelerator, my body was thrown into the seat. I can't even describe in words the power that this truck had. The exhaust note also sounded great. Compared to my V8 4Runner, the Tundra would have left it in the dust. If you thought your 4Runner's had a lot of torque, think again! When I had the opportunity to get on the highway, WOW! The Tundra did not drive like its size, was not that top heavy, and was very quiet during the 35 miles I put on it.

Overall, I really enjoyed the new Tundra. I almost didn't want to give it back because that new 5.7L is something to experience. Even though the truck did not drive like its size, it is way too big for my needs to drive around in everyday. Now if my 4Runner had the 5.7L, I would be in glory! :D

I posted some pictures of the truck and the Tundra near a GX470 (I couldn't get my 4Runner near it) just so you can see how big it really was. The Tundra made the GX470 look like a Mini Cooper near it.
